This revisionist history is complete BS. Salado came in pounds overweight and was clearly allowed to smash Loma's nuts for the entire fight, yet still almost got stopped, once again protected by the ref. We all know Loma won that fight in reality. Since then Loma has fought the best of the best while being ducked by Mikey, Tank and the like. He made some great fighters quit inexplicably. The Teo fight was clearly a set-up. Any boxing aficionado knows it was a very close fight and probably a draw. Not this 118-110 crap. Now Teo is running scared and will probably want a rematch at 140 or above. He knows if he gets annihilated his aura and money earning potential will be smashed. Accept Loma's greatness. We need people who will fight the best, unlike Floyd and the like.
It´s hilarious how this forum looses it´s minds over Ward-Kovalev, Canelo-Golovking, Floyd, Manny... you name them. Yet Loma looses two razor close fights and they act as if Loma got sonned both times.
For Loma rematch is worth only if this will be at 135 lbs because Teo 135 lbs division belts will not be on line when he will fight at 140 lbs weight in limit. Only one thing Loma needs from him looks that are belts. There might be multiple scenarios: 1. Teo team and daddy forces him go up to 140 lbs after beating kambosos and maybe one some other boxer too. 2. ol bob wish to sell on ppvs and sorry, Loma is globally bigger draw than Lopez because he does have more title fights under belts etc, was ammy superstar and like this. Ofc for murica fanbase to put bums on seats Lopez might look more lucrative than ukrainian boxer. So, if ol bob wish to hype up fight vs Loma, he will achieve that very soon some from boxing orgs will install Loma as mandatory for Lopez and this means that Lopez will have 2 choices: fight vs Loma or vacate one from his belts. Loma already still is ranked very highly in boxing orgs and this is reality. If ol bob wish to move Lopez up, he might gave him to Taylor to fight with at 140 lbs after he will beat Kambosos. Maybe put Lopez on easy fights to milk him enough until push him up and cash with this racing horse. Poor Lopez and his fans, ol bob does knows how to deal with racing horses like Teo.
Don't understand what Loma has done to prove himself ATG after 14 fights losing 2 of them. No where near enough to prove anything. He COULD become one, but is definitely not one now.
Right off the bat, your numbers are off. He is 15-2. He is also a 2 time Olympic gold medalist and one of the greatest amateurs off all time. His first loss was a questionable SD loss in his second pro fight against a title holder. You said he has only had 14 fights, in reality he has had 15 title fights. Hes beaten several top contenders and done so in 3 weight classes. Unified 3 of the 4 belts at LW, coming just short of undisputed status. You can argue that he is not an ATG, sure, but you can´t relegate him to just someone who has had only 14 fights. He has had the same amount of title fights as Ray Leonard(no, I am not saying their resumes are comparable). Leonard retired 36-3
ATG status I do not value highly, this is for muricas boxing fanbase, like HOF. No one outside of murica cares about these HOF or ATG and this is harsh reality. NO ONE. Also if your criteria is " no lost fights " then Ali definitely is lesser worth to be in HOF and called ATG than undefeated in pro boxing Ottke. More than this: nor Loma nor Ottke ever had been dropped by boxer who is 20 lbs lighter than they were, Ali had been dropped by such size boxer. Ottke for sure is more worth to be called ATG and HOF worth cos he in pro boxing was undefeated. It is shame that HOF and ATG thing is pro murican thing, otherwise King Ottke already had been induced in HOF.
no. hasnt done enough. theres a reason fights with all the big names around his weight class are still out there, cause he aint fought any of em. stop being fanboys, were talking atg here.
No just being realistic. Loma is one of my favorite fighters, I love watching fighters with this level of skill. but you have to be a nut hugging fan boy to say he is ATG.
He’s an interesting case for sure. Stellar amateur career. Quickest to win one and two titles. Beat some solid fighters but lacks that signature win. Skill wise he’s gotta be up there but it’s hard to say. Let’s wait for his career to finish before we come to a decision on that.
