I was selling him a little bit short due to age and Lopez/Ortiz bouts, in which he looked good but due to circumstances (injury, war) lesser than usual. The more I watch the Haney fight, the more I appreciate what he did there against a massive, young fighter.
Best fighter in that weight range of his generation, one of the greatest amateurs ever, one of the best p4p fighters in his era, multi-weight champion. The only legit loss he has in his career is Lopez, fighting above his natural weight trying to make history in a competitive fight, no shame. The Haney loss wasn't really a loss, in that 3 random "fans" decided it's a loss but they could have also decided Loma won equally legitimately. The Salido L and fight was bogus, should be ignored.
Loma fought at his highest weight he will ever be as a fighter who is past his prime. Haney fought at the lowest, if not second lowest he will ever be. And Loma made him look silly. I mean, I guess that’s overrated.
That fight was almost a classic: big, young, skilled lightweight (better than Lopez) vs. skilled, elfin sized fighter. Pretty interesting, really.
No hate from me, he should be undefeated, Salido should have been DQ'd or at least docked multiple points and he beat Teofimo and Haney in my eyes.
Of course they do! “Last I checked Loma has three losses in da books doe! Quit WHINING!” Floyd lost in the Olympics…. “But he really won doe!! Dat was corrupted!! He should have da Gold!!”
The floyd fans do seem to put a BUNCH of stock into being undefeated don’t they?! So they must LOVE Joe Calzaghe and Rocky Marciano I’m sure!! Oh wait…
He's not over rated or under rated. But there is an enormous amount of biased fan boys so far up his arse all you can see of them is their little red shoes....
