No. Not many feel he would beat or be competitive with Robinson or Hearns or Leonard. Nobody cites a "Mayweather vs. ______ at 135/140" fantasy fight. And I think he has shown enough at 130 that it is reasonable to say he could be a H2H "king" of super feather. At 147, most cite his resume as not sizing up to the above three mentioned and others at WW historically speaking. I almost think he doesn't get enough credit at WW. He would be totally competitive with Hearns and Leonard. They weren't indestructible either. At one point, people felt he would lose to Pac or Margarito if they ever fought. Now, people retroactively jump on Cotto all the time, the two above mentioned, and Kostya.
Great boxing. One of the atg. 50 years from now he will be talked about . Pbf has mad skills and is a smart ****er too
No not really. Of course he is overrated by his fans. That applies to almost everyone who has a favorite fighter. Floyd is one of the best to put on a pair of gloves. Other great fighters have said he would be great in other eras.
Margarito is a slow starter and so is Floyd, but Floyd would get started quicker than him. I think it'd be a blend of the Oscar fight and Baldomir fight. You'd see Floyd work his jab to the stomach very very often in this fight. I don't think Margo really has enough power to get Floyd out of there with one shot and Floyd has the stamina to keep going for the whole fight.
It's hard to say because he never took the ultimate test. He's undefeated, but also known more for the fights he didn't make than the ones he did. Look at how much love the undefeated Slappy gets in hypothetical fights and his resume is laughable. But, Mayweather (unlike Slappy) passes the eyeball test. You can just look at him and know he's a great fighter.
Because people who have followed him and his career, along with boxing in general have seen him perform at his best and beat fighters that in the context of their fights were better than those guys. Chico was a ****ing beast and was unbeaten at the time they fought, Hatton was a beast an unbeaten when they fought, And on and on. It's not to say he's the goat...but he's certainly better than Tony or Cotto. I give you the "on any given night" scenario, but overall there's really nothing to base a counter opinion on. Imo
Floyd is one of the most skilled fighter i've ever seen but he's overrated because we all know he's not going to fight anybody dangerous. Chances are he's going to duck anybody that's a threat . Can he beat them....we don't know because he's very skilled himself. Will he fight them....hell no because he's a chicken ****.
He is in a way, his opponents always seem to get the better of him early on but he has such a strange style its hard to score. hes not destroying people in the ring but its one of those true boxing fans styles like the Klits
