Definately is in his prime. The way he fights he can keep fighting till he is 45. Hopefully not though since his mouth and fighting style make him very boring to watch. His mouth only because he talks and never backs it up.
Giving credit to a fighter for beating a fighter is one thing, but a fighter doesnt have to be totally peak for another fighters win over him to be meaningful. Floyd isn't in his prime. He still has great handspeed, but it isnt quite as amazingly fast as it used to be. Due to his amazing boxing skills, he still wins impressively almost every fight. An over exaggerated analogy is Bernard Hopkins. He wasn't prime when he beat up Tarver, but that didnt stop him from totally dominating him. If Hatton can beat a version of Floyd Mayweather that isnt the absolute best version ever, that is still quite an amazing feat. Just like when Floyd beat Oscar. Was it the same Oscar that Tito fought? Well, no, but it was still a very impressive win. A fighter doesnt have to be peak for another fighter to deserve respect for beating him, and beating a fighter slightly past his peak is still a very good, if not totally accurate, barometer for how the fight would have turned out prime for prime.
Bologna. Fighters become great by beating all legitimate challenges, not by people saying "he would beat" this guy or that guy. He needs to fight Cotto. He needs to fight Paul Williams. He needs to fight Cintron. He needs to fight Clottey. He needs to beat every legitimate challenge out there if he truly wants to be considered one of, if not the, greatest of all time. Floyd is a stellar boxer with a very good career. But Floyd wants to be the GOAT and to be the GOAT you have to do more than he has done. It is a very difficult task, trying to be the very best ever, and he's going to have to fight even more people after Hatton and (maybe) Cotto to get that sort of recognition.
Mayweather is slightly past his physical prime and past his prime weight. So, yes, he is past his prime, but still good enough to be considered the world's best boxer.
i think he's slowed down abit with going up in weight, but i don't think he's really past it just a lil slower.
He is still in his prime but he is not at his peak, his peak was when he fought Gatti, now he is slowly declining.
Yep, of course. Before Kostya no one was saying he was past his prime, they all thought he would batter Hatton and that he still had a couple more fights in him. Same with Castillo but, if (big if) Rick wins this, suddenly Floyd will be another over the hill, past his best fighter joining all the other supposed OAP's that Ricky has fought:roll:
