You pretty much killed the thread with this response...Its promoters like Arum, King, and other greedy promoters that are killing the sport of boxing.
I don't really give a damn if May-Pac ever fight now or not, im over it, i can't figure why so many people ON THIS SITE,,are obsessed with FM:huh, he eats, ****'s and sleeps just like anyone else,, and the guy only fight's maybe once every year:deal, the IRS will probaly come after him in 2011, forcing him to fight again, probaly against an over the hill former guy with a name he knows he can win a decision against... It will be interesting to see how this guy supports his lavish lifestyle, and pays the IRS when he;s in his 40's a few years from now and can't fight anymore???
Big fights are always a big disappointment ...we waited and hope it would happen and it didn't ,I myself like seeing the up and coming fighters or local fights thats boxing you can really enjoy....another thing I enjoy watching little league baseball and amature boxing is the best.
Boxing may lose a ton of Filipino fans. But by my educated guess many of them (not all) are bandwagon Pac fans and not necessarily passionate supporters of the sport of Boxing. Therefore they were never really true fans to begin with. As for Floyd, sure, it's disappointing that he's not attending what would be the biggest party of the year. But I don't think he should be crucified for it as he never officially ruled out a match with Pac. Why doesn't he get credit for trying to make the fight happen back in March? No credit for giving us the biggest fight of 2010 with Shane Mosley?? C'mon, be more sensible. To me it seems more blame rests on the fans' shoulders for being overly whiny, ungrateful, impatient, selfish, and sometimes hateful.
One man can't ruin an entire sport that started long before him, and will continue long after him. BOXING IS HURTING BOXING, by not having he best fighters face off (not named Pac and May), a million belts, greedy promoters (as was mentioned), greedy networks (who want to act like promoters and "mediate" fight negotiations), and the list goes on. It's amazing how much people have blown this out of proportion. Floyd is not fighting again this year...big deal. Did he ever say that he was DEFINITELY going to? If Arum's offer wasn't enough to get Floyd off the fence about it, then so be it. But, there are other people the #1 P4P could be fighting, besides Margacheato. That fight is not helping BOXING it's helping ARUM....and so will Pac v Cotto II. Now, tell me...who's really ruining boxing?
One fight with Shane Mosley is a bigger fight than both of Pac's fights combined for 2010. Yet these guys still believe Floyd is "ruining" Boxing. It's amazing.
It's pretty much a game of, "Let's magnify Mayweather's slips and blow them way out of proportion and willfully forget all the good things he's done for Boxing."
hes fought 2 times in 3 years against a 36 year old featherweight and a 38 year old welterweight its good to be a fan :rofl:rofl:rofl heaven forbid foyd get in the ring a 2nd time in 1 year against a guy in his prime...its cotto, williams, winky, vernon, prime mosley, margarito all over again :hi:
Exactly...Dont get me wrong...I do place some blame on Mayweather(and I'm a fan) on this second time around given he should have made a public statement on why the fight didnt go down...but as I got to reading into things around surrounding this ordeal...This was nothing more than Arum playing mind games. My only beef with Floyd is that he should have been a little bit more vocal! In my honest opinion I think both should share the blame. Thats just me though!:good
good point too many sanctioning bodies and in those santioning bodies multiple of titles per division and the promoters are a close second
