I'm not saying this fella is dining with Andy Ruiz regularly or anything like that, but does his body look a bit soft to you? He's what, 20? He has an odd body shape for such a young guy who should be in the gym all day every day. Is there a discipline issue with food here? Hrgovich is a bigger, taller guy and weighed in lighter than Itauma for their fight. Usyk has undone some of the notion that heavier for the sake of being heavy is better. If the cardio and extra weight issues are related for Itauma, and he's looking at a discipline issue, I fear that's something that cannot be corrected.
I think for his age he is fat. I understand heavyweights above 30 carrying a bit but this kids metabolism should be fast at his age especially with all the training he would be doing. He obviously over eats and likely eats junk food.
Looking for an analog from another era, someone like Viktor Bunyakovsky would've slept him in the fitness category.
No he's not too fat, guys with that body shape used to go 15 rounds easily, Fury goes 12 rounds easily. Unless you are in a calorie deficit you aren't usually going to have ripped abs unless you have exceptional genetics, and a calorie deficit is a negative for athletic performance.
