is Pernel Whitaker Overrated?

So you chose not to name a style that always beats pernell. The fact that pernell basically wins every head to head matchup on this board against any fighter his size, is more than enough to claim him the most overrated fighter on ESB. This is officially the pernell whitaker fanclub.

 

Its fantasy head to head matchups, why the **** would I need to show evidence about hypotheticals. Whitaker beat a bunch of b level guys and chavez, so now you have to provide evidence as to why either napoles, mayweather or pryor could actually beat him head to head, like do you even think what you say. Its head to head matchups you tool, your opinion on a head to head matchup has no official legal status. I always see athletic swarmers and athletic boxer-punchers being hell for pernell and beating him. You favour pernell to beat all of them, you are the one wearing glasses.

 

Okay name a guy you pick to beat whitaker 3/4 times. I pick Ike Williams to always beat him, I pick napoles to win 3/4 with perhaps one loss by cut. I would favour pernell over the likes of argeullo, canzoneri, carlos ortiz, chavez. However I see pryor beating him and floyd mayweather being 50/50. Now go ahead and name the fighters that you see beating pernell either 2/3 or 3/4. I still havent heard you mention 1 name, and you keep criticsing me for suggesting whitaker has invincible status.

 

Ramirez got owned by camacho and mancini, owned. Hes the posterboy of a b level fighter. Perhaps your standards are a little lower. Vazquez doesnt hold a win over rosi, norris or boudani, hes essentially a mystery at 154.

 

Yeah well to be fair to pernell, i try to avoid natural welters, but going with that criteria, i would have to include charley burley at welter, no way pernell beats him.

 

yes he does, sorry to break your heart but i talk boxing with people all the time and its generally agreed that ike is the perfect guy to beat whitaker. I know your in denial and think whitaker would get wins over everyone, i beg to differ.

 

Not nearly as bad as the way hector toyed with him. This also further proves that names dont have the same value the higher you go up in weight. Which makes napoles look even better because he beat all the top welterweight contenders from 1969 to 1973. While sweet scientist was trying to argue that a win over haugen or 1992 camacho has the same value as a win over monster welterweights like hedgemon lewis and ernie lopez. Beating top welters is easily better additions to a resume than napoles picking on flash elorde or sugar ramos as 'name' fatherweights.

 

Of course everyone is a poor choice to beat pernell, hes invincible, Its head to head matchups, your opinion isnt any more valid. When I watch ike, i see a fighter that troubles pea.
