just wondering.. he's definitely not an ATG, but is he HOF worthy? entertaining guy, had some skill, won a couple of belts, BUT his resume is lacking and he lost to the best fighter he faced.
To be honest, he will get in. Hall of fame isn't really what it should be, for true ATG's who accomplished most in the sport. Sure, he held and fought a lot of good fighters at 126, but when he first fought a great fighter, he got trounced. He'll get in based on a solid resume, and entertainment value. But in a strictest sense, he shouldn't. Hell, Barry McGuigan went in, with a win over aged Pedroza and 4 defenses. Hamed will definitely get in.
He should squeak in, he was certainly FAMEous and a pretty good fighter too, he was a bit of a waster sadly but hey ho, they let mcguigan in
I understand this argument, but I don't personally have the same criteria for the Hall of Fame. For me, the Hall of Fame is about more than resume/ability. McGuigan deserves his spot IMO based more on the impact his career had, in particular with regards to the unifying force he brought to Ireland at a difficult time in the country's history. I would also put Gatti in, for the entertainment, passion and excitement he brought to the sport. I'd be tempted to do the same for Prince Naseem, particularly due to the attention he brought to the lower weight limits, but his retiring so soon after the Barrera fight makes me doubt his worthiness.
