Is Ricky Burns already our most credible world champion?

I say this because of the huge criticism (rightly or wrongly) that Haye and Khan have been subjected to.
In Khan's case it is that he ran as fast as he could from a rematch against prescott, used an over the hill barrera as a stepping stone before winning a world title at a weight that he had previously never fought at against 1 of the weakest champs. Since then he has defended it against a number 1 contender with an extremely padded record and then a fighter with zero power who had lost 2 of his last 3 whilst avoiding the dangerous Maidana.
For Haye he made a name at HW by calling out the Klitschko's when he had nothing to lose. Fights with both brothers failed to materialise before he won a portion of the world championship against the hapless Valuev. Since then he has defended it once vs Ruiz before backing out of a fight with Wlad who had called him out in front of the world. Now he is defending vs a man who has no right to get a shot in a move that surely proves he is 'milking' his title.
These aren't my necessary opinions at all but each argument has some credence which discredits both Khan and Haye significantly. On the other hand Burns on saturday night climbed of the floor in the 1st round to beat a man who many saw as number 1 or 2 at SFW in an extremely impressive performance where he beat the champion at his own gam in large parts.
So my point is, as we all have rightly given burns a great deal of credit do we see him as our most credible champion as opposed to Haye's heavyweight reign and Khan at light-welterweight?

Burns doesn't get **** cos he isn't as high profile as the other two. No one will mind if Burns takes a soft opponent for his first defence.

 

Kotelnik was easily much better than urango, as his tough fights with devon and maidana show thus khan dominATING him in the ring makes khan more impressive imo

No because Kotelnik proved himself to be more than a 'weak champion' after more or less out pointing Alexander or atleast scoring a draw with him, giving a much more credible win towards Khans world title win. BUT the facts remain that Burns beat a undefeated champion who could punch and proven himself to some extent as a champion.. not to mention Burns was a huge underdog. Burns credit is definitely due but i wouldnt say hes any more credible than Khan. as for Haye i couldnt give a ****ing **** about him enough to discuss his credibility right now.. Atleast Burns took on a dangerous opponent and Khans more than likely against Maidaina next.

 

In some ways, Burn's beat an undefeated puncher, and he was rated really highly, number 1 or number 2 in the world. Kotelnik, Macca and Valuev were hardly any better were they?

 

i will mind actually.
ive always been of the opinion, if you call yourself a world champ, you should be willing to fight the best. always. fair enough, he may need a rest between fights but no way do i want to see a joke opponent get called up for the 1st defence.

im not saying he has to fight another champ right away but someone whos mixed in world class and done well, at least.
too many folk giving it bull**** "i think he should get an easy homecoming defence." not in my book

then again...if i stick to this logic(which i will for the time being...), ricky burns never deserved the world title shot in the first place(he didnt) and wouldnt have won it...

 

Thats why i say Burns deserves credit for taking on the possibly recognised best fighter in his division and best champion. Obviously this proved not to be the case but it counts as a good solid win for that reason, a world class one too. But Kotelnik was more of a proven, seasoned high european/lower world class fighter whos got the expierience to give anyone a test. His 2 losses before Khan were very close and the type that could go either way, Khan gets credit cus he did what non of his other 3 opponents to beat him did, which is beat him more than clear, not to mention he beat Maidaina.

 

Khan loses credibility fighting Maidana. Khan needs to fight world class fighters not bums. Khan is godly.

 

Maidainas the biggest threat to Khan in the division imo. He lacks alot, but he has Pressure and Power.. Khans kryptonites.

 

No Khan is (he doesn't get enough credit IMO) then it's Ricky. Haye has ruined everything he has accomplished in the last few months with his actions.
