This, ESPN in the US have increased their budget of their licence fee by around $25,000 and they have used this increase to bulk up the undercard on offer or to bring on more bigger name more established fighters (Chris Arreola, Zab Judah). The result of this? their average viewing have gone up around 150-200,000 for their new season. I honestly believe that if Sky had 2 co-main events or a proper co-feature in place their viewing figures would go up but more often then not this is not the case and for me personally it makes a very big difference when it comes to me planning whether or not to stay in and watch the show or give it a miss and go out.
^^^ Agreed with both of those. It's an entertainment business, but all we get is bull**** and soundbytes.... and pundits saying they don't want the best fighters to fight each other. So why should we bother subscribing or going to shows? It's us that pay everyone's wages after all What about Prizefighter ''The Journeymen'' :think Imagine fighters like Carl Allen, Johnny Greaves, Danny Thorpe etc going for a big payday, even if it's not as much as the £32k? I'd definitely get a ringside seat, as would loads of people on Boxrec. I've said before and re-iterate, I could run the boxing programme at Sky better than whoever is in charge at the minute, as could most half decent posters on here. Would be good if a promoter, even a small one, invited one of the lads for a week/weekend's work experience to learn more, given that we are forever being told we don't know **** all.

:deal Agreed, well said! Plus the Steve Bunce boxing hour was way better than ringside! I loved the bunce show, but sometimes ringside bores me. Stop wasting money jetting about to miami and bollocks like that and get some decent ****ing fights on! I mean for example...KOTV's half hour show on channel 4 last week was better than last weeks episode of ringside!
I have to admit im not entirely sure that the current system that is implemented at Sky is entirely beneficial to the development of fighters. The domestic scene is great i love the British title scraps but i feel there needs to be a more defined route to a British title rather than nominations and promoters that put on fights that are conveniant for them. The European belt is good but i feel like the quality of some of the European opposition coming over is poor at the moment isnt great and our fighters can get caught up in defending a Euro belt once or twice a year and thats enough. I feel like it leaves little or no scope for top international opposition to come over the only example i can think of is Terrezas for Munroe and i am certain that this hinders fighters development and ultimately slows their route to a title shot.
Yeah guess so, but that fight or those fights will be forgotten by the end of the year and then sky will need someone else to milk. Its the boxing fans that are missing out not the joe public that watches one or 2 fights a year.
Id much rather have Ringside then not have it at all…. The Haye bum licking session was embarrassing but it was still boxing related so ill take it. I think Smith is trying to build this slowly. There are allot of domestic fighters getting on television now which is a good thing. Its seems everyone is being thrown into the pot, and Sky are hoping one or two come out shinning.
the original ringside show on sky years back had a brief bit of chat usually about the two top level fights from abroad that were shown on the show . i like the show now as well but would much rather they show a couple of tittle fights from around the world even if they are shown a week after the actual fights . to much chat and slapping each other on the back for me
I severely doubt it. A perfectly good explanation for the trips to the US are given on a thread on Boxrec. The shows were put together on a whistlestop tour of the US and did not, despite the uninformed speculation, cost a fortune.
