Rocky’s chin and power were better. Holyfield’s skills were at a higher level but once you reach a certain level in the sweet science the heart, will, grit and determination is what makes a fighter an all time great and Rocky had those intangibles locked down

Very possibly! I can’t envision any fighter under 190lbs beating him. Marciano was a machine.

This fight, or Toney would probably decide. I think he takes Roy out easily

    1) No he doesn't.
    See: http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/9027

    2) Kovalev hits hard, to be sure, but what impresses me about him is his boxing skill. He's got a superb all-round skillset. That said, Marciano is heavier than him and more relentless than a steamroller. No way that a smaller guy that is gasping for air by the halfway point beats Rocky. I can't see it.

I think Kovalev outboxes Marciano too ... for a few rounds.

he was never a cruiserweight. The man was in a coffin decades before cruisers were introduced.

He could easily add some bulk but didn't need it in the 50s.

And yet, somehow, Marciano was able to fight hard for 15 rounds and Kovalev gasses by the 6th. Heck, in Ward 1 he had shot his load by the end of the 4th.

I think I'm going to go ahead and disagree there.
