Yeah it was his whole upper body movement and reflexes that were most impressive. There were alot of guys with quick hands, some insanely so like young leonard, meldrick taylor, camacho, judah to an extent, but not too many that could move their whole torso the way jones did to avoid shots. Hamed did the same sort of thing but he was back at around 118 while Jones was 160-175 so Jones was far more impressive.

Faster than Mayweather, yes. As far as handspeed goes, you could argue a guy like Judah, Camacho, or Taylor up there with him, but in terms of reflexes and movement, and overall speed, I think Jones is the clear cut #1.

I'd like to see these guys timed. Seems like a really fast 100-130 pound or lighter fighter should be faster than 160-200 pound fighter but I know there are freakish fast people for their size.
At one time I did think Allan Green had speed that rivals Jones.

no because Joe was never as fast as a prime RJJ. Joe is slightly past his prime, and when he was in his prime RJJ was the fastest fighter 160 and above.

    Are we talking purely handspeed?

Nah, Judah and Camacho weren't as quick as Jones. Watch the combination Jones floors Johnson with. The quick one-two which dumps Johnson heavily. Both solid punches. Thats just one example.

Jones was quicker than all the other honourable mentions on this thread. People like to have other opinions just to be different IMO.

Yeah it is very hard to try to compare mentally when they are different sizes and in different fights.

Its easy to see head to head, like the Mayweather - Judah fight, where judah did have the faster handspeed.

Trying to compare Roys shots and body movement verus some of the sick combos of young leonard or meldrick is hard to do.

It would be cool if someone made a comparision video collage with slowmotion and all.

The fighter with the most underrated handspeed ever, De La Hoya.
