in the social sense, race is a reality, in the scientific sense, it is not.

There are black latinos, mexicans, cubans, brazilians. .

Then there are mestizos - mix of amerindians (the natives of whatever latino country before the whites conquered). . or mix of european, black, and amerindian (lot of this in brazil).

Sergio Martinez looks white to me . . . Maybe a distant mix of "amerindian."

I don't think skin colorr has anything to do with it and Sergio is not white. He is one of the best athletes in the sport regardless to his skin color or what country he hails from.

listen, you arent the end all be all on race. the fact that so many people have contrasting opinions in this thread does nothing but lend to the erratic changeability of racial identification. there is no across the board understanding of racial identity, and for anyone to believe that he has mostly european blood based on his looks alone is preposterous. skin color is not the sole determining factor in someone's origin, and every other potential factor in the form of physical traits is unreliable due to a wide range of variations that undoubtedly exist, in small or high number, across races.
