Is speed the key to giving Pac trouble?

One particular thing is'nt going to beat Pac.....you've got to be multi-dimensional.

Rather simply, greatness beats Pac.

A big key however is to have a good sharp right hand to counter Pac's left.
Pac has a tendency to leave himself wide open for that right hand counter, its a key reason why JMM was so sucessfull against Pac and MAB was not.
MAB just is'nt very sharp with the right hand, and I had pointed out before the DLH fight that Pac in fighting DLH, was fighting a bigger version of MAB......their right hands just are'nt very sharp. They're rather weak in fact.

Needless to say, Mayweather has a dandy of a right hand, and its quicker and faster than JMM's.

 

I think you need to fight Pacman from a tall stance and keep a constant jab out in front of you while using lots of lateral movement. Don't stand still, and have him come at you. Jab while moving and eventually throw a straight right as he lunges. Keep that up for 12 rounds and avoid getting in a slug fest or cornered and your home free. Pac is fast, but the secret to his style is in his spring like legs. He initiates his heavy attacks with a lunge. Good lateral movement will give someone like him fits because he won't be able to set up.

 

The thing about the JMM fights is that he has progressed so much since those fights. He was pretty one dimensional with his jab/left and lunging in with his head exposed.

Against DLH, he was much more polished. He wasn't just one dimensional. He has added the straight left and the right hook to his arsenal. That just makes it harder for opponents to predict what is next. Also think DLH was THAT shot.

 

JMM is a technical master. His speed is underrated because he fluctuates it to mess up his opponents timing. Marquez arsenal, timing, skill and ring smarts are close to unmatched today. What a great champion!

PAC is a freak of nature. His raw blend of power and speed are phenomenol. PAC is so good that a fighter needs to really study and time him to be effective. He's aggressive, more elusive than ever with improved defense, very fast and knows how to counter. I'm happy to call him the P4P king now. Its not just his speedy 1-2's anymore.
