Calzaghe wouldn't fight him in Germany even though Ottke was the no.1. Kessler a noob and I think the window for fighting Hopkins, RJJ and Toney at SMW was very narrow if it was there at all.

Finally I must mention that Ottke beat Johnson fair and square which leads me to conclude that your post is a fail on all counts.

    Ive heard this too

as boxing legend has it because of Ottkes reputation from the Reid and Brewer fights

combined with the Johnson got robbed in all his losses

leads ppl to just assume Johnson had to have been robbed

i dont know if he was or wasnt but i think most posters blindly assume

I watched Ottke vs Reid and one thing I will say is that the ref was pretty bad at times

but overall Reid was in Ottkes back yard and he kept the rounds close then later on in the fight Ottke came back in the mid and later rounds

sure Ottke didnt dazzle but he did enough to win rounds and Reid slowed down a little

the point deduction also helped, i cant really remember if it was a fair docking or not

He's borderline. Because so many of his wins were close or disputed, and because he never fought Calzaghe or Jones, his resume tends to get underrated a bit. That said, if I were to vote for a fighter from his era that fought out of Germany, I'd vote for Michalczewski long before I'd vote for Ottke. I'd also have him a notch or two below Hamed, who still hasn't made it in yet. Anyway, I voted no, but it's a weak no and I wouldn't feel like it's a travesty if he got in.

It depends on your definition of talent. To me, Ottke wasn't much talented but was more intelligent than most boxers and worked harder in the gym to develop a solid defence.

To me, the HOF doesn't mean much if anything. Especially if guys like Ottke are serious contenders for a place there.

absolutely not because of his shameful antics in the ring, especially the reid fight... looking at the referee for help after you opponent just PUNCHED you is ****ing disgraceful, nevermind all of the other crap that happened in the Reid fight and the rest. **** Ottke

because Reid got warned for hitting ottke in the face multiple times, AND got a clear knockdown taken away from him... how the **** can you blame reid for slowing down and giving up?

"pretty bad" are you ****ing joking?

i cant really remember if it was a fair docking or not" no it ****ing wasnt
