Not even close. He got schooled a few times, and has very few good wins on his padded resume. He was a huge cherry-picker. We can;t give awards to these people.
Ingemar Johansson is in, with 26-2 record. Had only 3 world title fights, in which he lost two of them. And 4 EBU title fights. If he´s in, then why not Ottke?
Well to be fair, he was the holder of the World Heavy Weight title, when being the World Champion was just that, there was only one, not 4+. Also, the win over Patterson is probably better than anything on Ottke's resume. He also had a great rivalry with the American.
Surely Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank have better cases for getting in than Ottke. Why are these guys not making the ballot when Ottke is?
**** his record and who he fought. He's got 4-5 losses on his record if he traveled, and he straight up ducked calzaghe when joe tried to make a fight with him. He was the epitome of a paper champion, and was a disgraceful performer.
As usual when talking about Ottke its about hatered and the Reid fight (yes, that was a disgrace). Objectively Ottke is HOF worthly, no doubt about it. ...but haters gonna hate anyways...
Yes. I would put Nigel Benn in before him. Benn really is the epitome of a fighter's fighter Huge heart, bags of courage and always turned up primed for a tear up! One of my favourite boxers of all time so i might be biased...
Yes Ottke is worthy. Undefeated WBA/IBF champ who beat many top SMWs. I notice how you are putting names down like Pudwill and Gatti to put a damper on Ottke, but any fighter that has 22 world title fights will have a few gimmes. What you didnt note is that Ottke also has wins over Markussen, Larsen, Tate, Butler who all were top 10 SMWs. I said on another thread that I dont think you know the history of the division or the fighters. I dont think you do
