As for the division, I think the continued rise of undefeated prospects like Boystev, Arreola, and Dimitrenko are also a very good crop of up and comers with which to create eagerly anticipated title defenses for the current big names at the top of the division. Povetkin, as well, once he heals and gets back in contention............

The division is full of great fighters. I fail to see how anyone with any sense of reasoning can slam this current populace of heavyweights.................From amazing power, to impressive speed, to immense size AND skills, to ultra slick smaller heavyweights...............the division currently has it all.............

The only drawback has been the reluctance (fear) of the promoters and ORGS from putting the big names against each other...........but with Wlad taking Ibrag's title, and now VItali looking to fight Haye, as well as Wlad making an offer to Valuev (even though it was ignored)..........maybe the fights we need to see are going to start happening, and happening more often.

    A few points:

    1) The Eastern Europeans are coming of age and ready to contend. Dimitrenko apparently handled Krasniqi with ease, and we know that Povetkin is a serious fighter.

    2) Haye has injected some personality into the division, and Vitali gives the HWs a proven tough guy with power who likes to brawl.

    3) I'd like to see a couple of the young heavies battle on a B.A.D. card. They don't need to be fed to the Klit wolves yet, but they should be only a year or so away.

    4) The sooner Valuev is separated from any belt, the better.

    5) One by one, the old guard are going to be eliminated. Again, the sooner the better.

Gomez beat Wlad in the ams.

and yes the division is getting better. We are over the Ruiz's and Chris Byrds holding peices of the titles and Now the Klits have solidified

Vitaly put class into the picture. He is a world class HW champ of any age.

Haye put some action and mouth into the picture.

Overall it looks much better than just a year ago.

The fact that I could look at that first list and not think, "Wow, he sucks" for any of them tells me the division is getting better.

Long gone are the days of all four titles being adrift in the hands of Byrd, Ruiz, Rahman, and whomever held the last one, I forget.

At least how there are only three titleholders, and they are trying to reduce that to two, assuming they can, somehow, get Valuev and King to fight one of the K Brothers.

Things are on anohter level, entirely, than they were a few years ago when King had all the titles, and refused to put any two of them against each other.

At least now, they have one unification fight, already, and are pushing for another. (even though the resistance to get that fight made is great) WHen King held all four titles, unification was a cuss word.

Haye isn't a "megastar in England" he had trouble getting people to actually come and watch him fight at the 02 and ended up giving tickets away two for the price of one.
In terms of megastardom in England..it goes Hatton....then way way wayyy back Calzaghe and then...Haye..who isn't much more of a star than Amir Khan.

And Haye has done absolutely nothing to suggest he is anywhere close to the level of Lennox Lewis. Why even make the comparison? Between a guy with a big mouth and a lot of hype, and an ATG?

You may be right on his fame in England, as I can't say, for sure.

But I do think he is on his way to becoming on par with Lewis, certianly. Lewis was not an unbeaten boxing GOD, mind you. He was also put O U T on two occassions.

Haye has been beaten once, and has unified the titles in one division, and is attempting to overtake another. Not sure how far he'll get, but that's another thread.
