That's what I started thinking as soon as I read that Pavlik had lost.Martinez better watch it,he's already 35. Curses tend to hate the older fighters.

    Nah.

It's more of a case where they built certain middleweights up to be monsters (Pavlik, Miranda, and Taylor) all when they were undefeated. Unfortunately for them all, it wasn't really backed up by substance. Certain Pavlik fans said Pavlik ruined Taylor when Taylor had actually been struggling for a while.

With Martinez it's a little different. He's had 2 losses. He's not some sort of undefeated monster. He's fought for years, endured the bumps along the way, and now reaps the rewards of his hard work. So maybe, it will be different this time around because there won't be a perception of invincibility around the MW champ.

The only time it's been arguably stolen is the first Taylor fight. The second was close. Plus a case can be made that BhoP ruined both fighters. I like JT but he wasn't as good as he was hyped up to be honestly, neither was Pavlik.

Oh c'mon Jones was shot for years, Ornelas was a tune-up, and he didn't take Calzaghe's soul. Lets look at the 4 other names shall we?

Taylor: lost his confidence after Hopkins and struggled afterwards. Yes Hopkins ruined him.

Tarver: No really good win after losing to Hopkins and got dominated by Dawson, a very good fighter. Can't really say 100% he was ruined but who knows.

Wright: After Hopkins losing by being overwhelmed by Paul Williams, a very good fighter. To be fair he's really inactive and that may have ruined him more than Hopkins. Still think Hopkins may have ruined him but his lack of stepping on the gas pedal cost him in the Taylor fight too.

Pavlik: No true meaningful wins post-Hopkins but to be fair he was just fighting mandos. He is ruined by Hopkins.

    4/7 aint bad though......
