He's a bit overrated, and I'm saying this as one of his biggest former fans. He's a lot slower and sloppier than he was five years ago, and needs to rely more or mauling tactics to get the win. Back when he fought Christian Hammer (his best performance IMO) he was phenomenal, crisp, lightning fast, insane use of angles for a big man. Nowadays he looks laboured against similar level fighters.

His win over Wilder was epic, but Wilder was always destined for that type of loss so unless he can turn it around then I can't give that win quite the kudos most of the public thinks it deserves.

If he fights Joshua I think it's no guarantee he walks away with the win.

    No.

Fury takes on and beats the best.

Fighters like Bowe and Holmes, who did not seek out and beat the best, are overrated.

Overrated, underrated ... doesn't matter, he's the most entertaining boxer out there by far.

Good post. I especially agree with this:

"He's a lot slower and sloppier than he was five years ago"

I re-watched the fight with Wlad again and I was shocked at how fast Fury was compared to the Wilder version.

He came out all guns blazing. Totally different approach in all fairness.

Perhaps he is a tad overrated and he's currently my favourite fighter. I think it has to do with the fact that people, especially in Britain, love a good ol' comeback story. He's also sound as a pound as a person.

Even so, the difference in speed is palpable. I'll say that he looks stronger than the Wlad version, though.

When Deontay stops him in the third fight, people will think so!

No he’s not overrated.... he’s the best out there at the moment and has the potential to be an ATG as long as he stays focused and doesn’t go off the rails again. He’s one of a kind as far as size, mobility, iq, being able to switch hit, and his skill set. But at the moment it’s still too soon. If he unifies and beats all of the big names in this era then we start to have the conversation of where does he rank all time.

Overrated is the wrong word, he is definitely inconsistent. As in he needs an extreme challenge to perform to his potential otherwise he's very happy to cruise by or even narrowly escape with a win against lower level opponents.

fury is right about where he should be.
That being said, after he gets done with wilder I see a shocker coming. I think Joshua will take him out

Yeah, there's a definite strength increase. He looks a ton more solid nowadays, but he clubs his shots now where before he'd pepper them or snap them out.
