You're getting it mixed up there bud... Floyd and Manny are THE FACES of Boxing. Once they go (the next 18 months) Boxing will be in a tough place.

America NEEDS a Heavyweight Boxer, a damn good Heavyweight Boxer to carry it on once those two are gone.

Kimbo Slice on some cage channel was getting more views than UFC. That says alot. Dana White despised Kimbo but knew he did high numbers, so had to kiss his arse to get him into UFC.

Its an ok sport but I can't get into it. The fighters are on low wages compared to boxers aswell, despite being on PPV.

Plus MMA is more disjointed than boxing, so it is already damaging itself.

Dana White did not kiss Kimbo's ass. To get into the UFC he made Kimbo compete in TUF.

Everyone said the same thing when ODLH retired, and the same thing when SRL retired etc. There is always going to be up and coming talent that can be promoted as a star.

UFC is going to die soon, stick a fork in it. Last I heard brock lesnar quit and GSP broke his leg in half. Nobody else can put up 1 million buys or even close to that. Also anderson silva is 37 years old.

Just like boxing, there will be up and comers in the UFC. The lastest PPV sold by an up and comer, Jon Jones, was 700K, which is close to 1 million.

How many PPV buys did the last up and coming boxer do?

UFC is more popular in low income groups.

Boxing is on the rise in High School & College programs.

Floyd is 36, what's your point?

Who other than Floyd/Pac will do One Million buys?

Typically only the winner gets a locked contract and some stand outs may get a few fights. Kimbo had a contract to the UFC before the season of TUF was even finished!

Dana knew he was going to sign him because of the media attention Kimbo entering the UFC was drawing. Putting him on TUF was just a formality.

    Exactly.

Its because UFC owns all the fighters, promotions...everything. They bought their main competitor (strikeforce) and are essentially the only game in town.

Imagine if Bob Arum/Top Rank bought out all the other promotors, the WBA/WBC/IBF/IBO and Ring Magazine. Then, he only made fights with guys who were in his stable.

That is basically what the UFC has going on. Of course they can force the big fights to happen, they own everyones ass.

Canelo can easily do 1m+. As much as Americans hate the K bros, they are huge sellers in Germany and the Ukraine.

If Canelo can easily do 1M+, then why is he on the undercard of mayweather versus cotto?

If he could get 1M+ easily, he would be headlining his own PPV's and making 20-30 million dollars a fight.

A lot of boxing matches are broadcast as non-PPV.

Aren't all UFC's PPV? (I don't really know, don't really care, but I've never seen a UFC or MMA fight on Showtime or HBO.)

That would certainly skew the numbers.

I never said that he didn't have a contract locked up.

I said that Dana White stated that Kimbo needed to compete in TUF to get into the UFC, which he did.

Dana White probably never expected Kimbo to take him up on the offer either. In all the interviews before Kimbo went on TUF, Dana pretty much talked **** about Kimbo every opportunity he had.

If MMA is so great why did Fedor never fight in the UFC against the best competition? Because he had a different promoter, sounds just like boxing to me. UFC might be a monopoly now but at some point fighters might realise they are being paid a fraction of what they deserve and it will fragment again.
