I think he has an excellent chin but his body is suspect. He was knocked down by Beterbiev with a body shot in the ams and the body shots Hunter landed on him clearly affected him. That being said no excellent crusier chin is taking a Wilder punch.
People's criteria for glass jaws seem to get more and more lax. Like, getting buzzed from a puncher is proof you're a glass jaw? What next, if you blink from a shot you're packing glass?
Holyfield was thought to have a questionable chin when he moved up and he got “buzzed” a lot but, history says he packed some serious granite in there… And I don’t think Usyk has been ‘buzzed’ anything like Holyfield yet, if at all…
Aside from the fact that he's fought a ton of punchers in the pros, WSB, and amateurs and AFAIA has only been dropped once (by a body shot from the savage punching Beterbiev who is arguably the hardest puncher in the sport right now and sure as hell was one of them in the amateurs), and he ''gets hit too much, doe.'' Er.. yeah, he is definitely packing some glass in those whiskers of his. He fought punchers like these guys in the WSB This content is protected This content is protected Almost every fighter he's faced in his 7 world title fights is a puncher and a number of them massive punchers. Gassiev can punch holes in castle walls . Go ask Arreola and Afolabi how hard he hits. Briedis is massive puncher too. (No, not that one who looked like **** on Saturday night who is clearly carrying an injury) This one This content is protected Glowacki is a huge puncher too. How many times you seen Huck hit the canvas? Huck can really punch as well, he has very heavy hands. Hunter can bang a bit as well. And yes, contrary to what some believe Bellew is a huge puncher, especially up at CW. That left hook of his is and always has been vicious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aS4-ZBeVTAE Even in the amateurs he was sparking people out in devastating HL reel fashion This content is protected Listen to what iron-jawed HW Dave Allen says here about sparring Bellew Timestamped This content is protected David Haye ranks Tony Bellew, Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko in terms of punching power David Haye has cautioned Oleksandr Usyk of the raw power possessed by Tony Bellew ahead of this weekend’s world title fight at the Manchester Arena. Haye believes that ‘The Bomber’ can shock the world and bow out of boxing as a unified world champion. ‘The Hayemaker’ has revealed his fellow Brit is a ‘brawler in the ring’ and has superior punch-power than any other cruiserweight in the division. The 38-year-old promoter even ranked his rival’s blows above heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko and current champ Deontay Wilder. The Liverpudlian has promised ‘absolute war’ in Manchester and revealed his desperation to end his career in style and become the first British man to be crowned an undisputed world champion in a boxing ring. Bellew’s self-belief was boosted by career wins over Haye, a former WBA world heavyweight champion, which encouraged him to put retirement plans on hold so he could take on the Ukrainian cruiserweight recognised as one the the best boxers in the world. Usyk, 31, arrives in supreme form after a dominant victory over Russia’s Murat Gassiev in the World Boxing Super Series in July, and is now being talked about as a future opponent for Bellew’s compatriot Anthony Joshua, the WBA, IBF, and WBO world heavyweight champion. The Ukrainian is undefeated after 15 professional bouts, having won European, World and Olympic gold in a decorated amateur career. ‘The Cat’ is the first boxer in history to hold all four cruiserweight belts and is the heavy favourite going into the contest considering his pedigree. Bellew has re-iterated his preference of being labelled ‘the underdog’ and has stated he feeds off anger and negativity, and wants ‘the fight beaten out of him.’ ‘The Hayemaker’ has weighed in on his predictions and believes the Ukrainian will have his back against the wall against one of the world’s most formidable punchers. “Usyk is not a big KO specialist, which works in Tony’s favour,” Haye told TalkSPORT on the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show. “Usyk will be wanting to win this fight on points over 12 rounds, so Tony needs to land that bomb and really let that left hook fly, because if he can catch Usyk on the button… “I can tell you first-hand that he punched way harder than cruiserweight. Believe me, I’ve been hit by Wladimir Klitschko, I’ve been hit by Deontay Wilder, I've been hit by some of the biggest and hardest-hitting heavyweights on the planet and none of them have put me down like Tony Bellew did in our last fight. “So going on current form, you’d have to say Tony Bellew is the knock-out specialist, and going into a fight which he needs a knock-out in, you can’t get better preparation than the stoppage victories he’s had over the last couple of years.”
This is what undefeated British HW prospect Fabio Wardley had to say about Usyk's power. Wardley sparred him for the Bellew fight and has also shared a ring in sparring with Tyson ''2-Fast'' Fury,'' Dillian Whyte, and Chisora. “He’s definitely more heavy handed than we see, I think he chooses his punches so well, he never risks himself with over-the-top shots. “He never forces a shot but he is definitely a hard puncher. He might not have single one-punch knockout power but he can hit you with seven shots from all angles that you just never expect. “I move quite well and have a good defence but he was still picking me off with six or seven shots and you just have to cover-up."
Another reason why I’ve always believed he’s better suited for heavyweight. He doesn’t have to worry about body punches in the same way.
This has to be some of the dumbest nonsense I've heard in a while! Usyk has never been dropped as a pro! Do you understand the meaning of "glass jaw"? Stop the hate! Usyk is the goods, no doubt! Recognize you baffoon!
The Nistor fight was before UKAD stopped testing their golden child. Defeciencies had to be lessened and continuing to test Joshua would prove counter to the golas and hopes of a nation whose recent Olympiad results seem to indicate implementation of a new supplemental protocols.
