I respect him as a man. World Champion Kickboxing, Boxing Heavyweight Kingpin, Mayor of Kiev, and now this whole war he has to deal with. Also an educated guy. Thats alot of accomplishments akin to Arnold Schwarzenegger.
I think Lewis was past his prime when this fight occurred, and Vitali was not yet in his prime. I liked Vitali, I think he was far better than his brother, he showed brilliance at times with his movement and combination punching.
Larry Donald KO win, Corrie Sanders, Adamek, and his fight against Lewis > Chisora win. And Vitali was old as hell wheras even in this generation top guys were struggling with an older shopworn Chisora Vitali may be overrated but he would humiliate aj. ajs record is smoke and mirrors.
He gave top 5/10 ATG Lewis an extremely difficult time and that alone dwarfs all of Joshua's accomplishments
Well I guess Rahman, McCall and Mercer should be rated higher than them both. Beating Wlad is a better accomplishment than losing to Lennox.
I agree that Vitali has an overrated resume. I just disagreed with the other guy about aj being rated higher
Overrated. Terrible resume and lost to the best fighter he fought. Yet people treat him like some unbeatable beast. Wlad was miles better, both in terms of resume and H2H.
Resume and H2H aren't everything though- IMO Vitali had better overall skills based on eye test. Better movement, more fluid, better jab, better punch variety, better ring IQ, better stamina. I think he beats Wlad like 7-8 times out of 10 if they fought each other in their primes.
Vitali had better punch variety and was a better brawler in the trenches. Otherwise Wlad was superior in almost all categories. That's why Vitali is overrated. He gets ascribed all sorts of qualities he didn't adequately show in the ring, mostly because his opposition was so godawful.
