    It might be.

To be clear, I think Wilder is very good and has the skills to easily remain a huge force in the division, but taking a big loss like that is tough -- a lot of fighters never really recover from something like that. It's much more tolerable if there's significant controversy and the boxer can rationalize how he should've won, but when a boxer simply gets outdone like that... Odds don't seem that good.

However, some can take a big loss in stride. Learn from it. I hope Wilder is one of those guys.

I also want to say I genuinely think Wilder could win the rematch with Fury. I think Fury really caught Wilder off-guard with the aggressive style, and that won't be a factor next time -- Fury will be aggressive again and this time Wilder will prepare for it.

I don't think he's finished. However, l don't see him being HW champ again, in fact he would struggle against most of the contenders ( top 10/15 ).
Having a career padded with hand-picked journeymen has caught up with him in my opinion.
His age is probably against him too, a couple of years or defeats ( whichever arrives first ) & he'll have retired.

It didn’t quite happen that way though. . .

Wilder, stung by the justifiable criticism of his resume, was desperate to put a name on his record so went for a washed up, drug addled, suicidal, obese, alcoholic who hadn’t laced up a glove in almost 3 years.
A cherry pick that could be spun into a great victory after the fact.

Unfortunately for Wilder he lost the first fight and then suffered the indignity of being awarded a draw when the whole world had seen him outclassed.
That locked Wilder into a rematch his team never wanted and thought he’d never need!

The Wilder team never intentionally “stepped up” it was a cherry pick gone tits up!

The couple fights he had before the Fury rematch he seemed to rely even more on landing one big punch, wasn’t as aggressive and seemed somewhat uninterested. If he gets blown out in the third fight which he most likely will he’s all but done.
