So lets get this straight. You take a "fee" but dont tell the boxer that you are taking it, go out of your way to hide it from the boxer and the mother of the boxer, lie to their faces and only admit to it after you get caught? Thats really shady. I would also be interested to see how much Ted won based on betting on Okolie to win. He also clearly made money from selling access to the dressing room too, as Isaac talked about how all these people he never saw before were in the dressing room before the fight. This harms his fighters mental preparation before getting in the ring. Ted financially made as much as possible from that fight.
The two bits that stood out for me in this interview, were how twitchy he was and talking about it Isaac wanted to go a separate route all he had to say I could have handed him his contract back as I am his uncle, then let slip when he said we could have sat down and negiotiated something.
Whats the point in ifl doing that interview when Helder didn’t even make any attempt to dig deeper into what Bami was waffling about? I understand ifl have to be careful when interviewing say Warren not to push him to hard and **** him off by challenging him when he’s talking utter nonsense. Maybe it’s the same with Eddie to a much lesser extent though as he more or less takes it in his stride. But with a relative nobody who hey don’t have to bother interviewing very often or need any favours from, they should really have not let Bami get away with waffling without even trying to push him. Whatever really happened though, I hope lessens have been learnt and both Issac and Bami improve themselves as people after this incident.
Pointless interview. No real questions asked. No real answers given. He managed to speak for about 10 minutes without really saying anything. And when he did try and explain himself he just made no sense at all. From what I could gather, he said the purse was paid into his account, he took his manger's fee, paid Chamberlain what he was due and that Chamberlain said he was still short, well that sounds like you stole money to me Ted. Maybe I've picked him up wrong, he was very unclear. Helder was useless as an interviewer as well.
The kid got away likely, 10k in the big scheme of things is a cheap price to pay to weed out a traitor/scumbag from your camp.
Imagine James Helder as a police interviewer: James: "I'm fortunate enough to be joined by a suspected serial killer today. Mate I got to ask you, did you commit the murders" Suspect: "No" James: "Ok mate, no problem, no further questions".
I know this isn't the topic of the thread, but I normally switch off IFL interviews when it's Helder doing them. Find him very robotic and scripted.
Maybe I'm a seriously bad judge of character (hmm that would explain my wife) I thought he looked genuine enough but there was a little point that sort of slipped through. I think this could be a little bit of a misunderstanding. I don't believe Bami just took 10k and pocketed it. Bami said something like.. the money went to him from Matchroom and then he said OTHER PEOPLE HAD TO GET PAID, now that would make sense to me, if Bami has gone and paid people for services or whatever out of that money and Isaac didn't know exactly who was getting paid and for what. That makes more sense to me than Bami just taking 10k, that would leave him wide open to civil action.
Also TAX This ruins a lot of fighters if they don't uunderstand or haven't got good people around them to explain this to them and protect them. Paying people from your purse and the difference between gross and net.
Isaac said in interview he told Ted to pay other people who were due money. He agreed to Ted getting paid money as Ted didn't want a delay in paying these people, the missing money was outside those payments.
Right, well if that she the case then that doesn't look great. In fairness to Bami in that interview he was quite willing to show James payments, money and purse but James declined. Not that proves his innocence or anything. It's all rather sad to be honest.
