I'd knock this china chin ***** Khan out easy! I've seen dis fool fight and he cant take no shot from real men! I'd like to fight him after he gets KTFO here.

 

Theres a big problem here for Khan, he won't be bullying Kotelnik from pillar to post like he did to Barrera and the other midgets hes been put in against due to his sheer size advantage, and fact he knows how to use it. Khan is facing a big man who is used to fighting guys with much faster workrates but is never over-awed by their power or speed, he methodically and slowly wears them down and Khan has never been in a long, technical fight with a guy Kotelniks size and class. He has excellent stamina and good pop in the punches, certainly not a killer in general terms, but definately dangerous in Khan terms. Therefore Khan doesn't really want to drag this one out.

Kotelnik,however, is very static at times and Khans in and out combos will show, but as I said they won't bother Kotelnik too much and certainly wont send him flying around the ring like most smaller/lesser Khan opponents where size and pure punch volume have been instrumental. Khan has a snowballs chance in hell of ending it early, or even ending it all by stoppage or KO. If he wants to survive in there and maybe even scrape a win then hes just going to have to go back to basics and dart in and out flailing combos and running away, he can't stay on the offensive or even exchange in the middle with chaps his own size as we saw with Drilzane and Prescott, he gets caught way too often.

He'd get KO'd or stopped, but I'm happy hed at last b in a fight. If he could miraculously pull this off,impressively, then I would finally give him some respect.

Very interesting choice by the Warren and Team Khan camp.

So thats why it probably wont happen

That's a good move, not like he did anything worth mentioning at Lightweight to make this move but they probably need to do it at this point as he might be more comfortable there. Khan is in divisions that are literally packed with serious opponents so sooner or later he is going to be tested again.

 

I wonder what Golden Boy's feelings are going to be about this. Will they hold it against Universum. Will this cause a problem for Kirkland-Dzindiruk?

I also thought that it was a bit early for Ortiz to challenge Kotelnik because up to now Ortiz has only beaten a handful of local American club fighters.Easy to look impressive against such limited opponents.Kotelnik is different type of cake.Too big a cake on Ortiz's plate in my opinion.

As for Khan vs Kotelnik I also look forward to it!
Khan is a gifted and promising young fighter.Kotelnik a cagey,experienced vet who is used to fighting abroad.
I dont think that Khan will be able to stop Kotelnik as the Ukranian has already faced bigger bangers than Khan and as we all know he has never been stopped in his entire pro career so far.
Kotelnik isnt a big banger either.Could really go either way!
Of course I will root for Kotelnik against the English based moslem from Pakistan,but I dont dare to bet any money on neither Khan nor Kotelnik.

 

Great post but Khan is British. He was born here, raised here and represented us in the Olympics.

 

At times I am a little bit at a loss when speaking about foreign fighters who are based in western countries.
Is Khan British? Does he consider himself to be British?
A passport means ****.It is just a piece of paper,nothing more.
Is any foreigner who is born in the UK and who is able to speak English like a native Briton considered to be British???
You know,an African who was born in Russia and who can speak Russian like a native Russian is still an African.
Any normal Russian would laugh his head off if you tell him that he is Russian because he was born in Russia and can speak Russia.
Or an Englishman who was born in China and speaks Chinese.The Chinese people would have a good laugh if you suggest that he is Chinese because he was born there.
Dont get me wrong though,ishy! I dont know whether you are right or not.We live in a globalised world.Anything is possible nowadays.I just stem from a country where people still follow different rules.
