At the end of the day, by round 8 he had lost, there was no way of him coming back and a KO didn't seem likely, he did the right thing by quitting and living to fight another day. There's a life to be lived outside of boxing

    peter is no no *****
i was suprised that he could take such a beating
after he heard the scorecards, he realised all he could do is go for the KO and even he is not silly enough to not realise that was near impossible at that point
it was could he stopped he can no hopefuly fight another day

Oh i ****ing hate trash talkers too...(Toney is always the first one that comes to mind whenever i think of **** talking)...But at the same time , it's unfair to critise these fighters for abandoning their fights.

Again , like i said earlier with the Brewster example , it's not a question of heart anymore...They already have it. Brewster has the heart of a lion (and he almost ruined his entire career because of his fight vs Liakhovich...) , when he was confronted vs Wlad , he was smart enough to call it quits.

Sam Peter did the same. He has never done that before. He didn't do it against Wlad klitschko nor anyone else...But sometimes you have to learn when to stop.

I'm guessing you're all aware why boxing has 12 rounds instead of 15 now right ? That's because of him

    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=12186&cat=boxer

The guy didn't know when to quit ,...he had the "heart of a champion" but he's dead. It's great to have "pride" , i'm not against it but there's a point where you have to accept defeat.

Of course , sam peter's case wasn't as extreme. But he couldn't see vitali's punches coming...He made the right decision. He wasn't landing anything , vitali was toying with him...He couldn't land a bomb to save his ass...so he just had to accept the situation.

Well I have had the gloves on quite a few times and one of my last fights I had my nose broken in the first round. It was bleeding so bad that I was gagging on my own blood and had to spit my mouthpiece out to breath....I held my breath and ko ed my opponent in round 2.By the way I spotted him 24 pounds.......Heavyweight champions are a special breed and it really surprised me that peter quit on his stool ,especially after all the trash he and his camp talked before the fight.

co-sign....**** you mean he's not a quitter?.....he QUIT, he has no heart, he knew he couldn't drop him, and he knew he was looking at 4 more rounds of a beating or getting put on his big ass, so he said **** it, i got paid, might as well spare myself of this beating, so he QUIT...

    which means he's a "quitter"

I never liked peter. I talked **** before and I'll keep talking **** now. If it had been the other way and Klitscko was the one beat into submission the board would have crashed from how many people would be starting hate threads

im just going to take the side of the klitshcko far as the quit thang. all the peter fans jump the fans of klitshcko about quiting against byrd and i never seen no thread about that? is it fair to criticized them and klitschko in the byrd fight? now do i think its for retaliation? yes and no. cause i do think if the byrd never happen they would still call peter a quiter. i just would like to to know why there was no thread about that but for peter there is. but to me far as peter goes, you are the champ and you handed it over. now its time for peter to sit down and figure whats next for himself. if its him or his trainers. whatever there is something that need to be done.

quitting in boxing is a no no. especially if you are a "heavyweight champ" if you are 24-16-1 and fighting a guy 30-0 and are getting an ass kicking for most of the fight...quitting on a stool you can get a pass. but peter wasnt kicked mauled in there...jabbed to death, yes..... when you have people like Ali who fight with a broken jaw for an entire fight vs ken norton...arturo gatti , fernando vargas who would rather go out on their back than quit..... tyson who takes a near death beating before he ever got stopped....see jorge castro - john david jackson fight 1...if castro would have quit after the beating he was getting, he wouldnt have won the wba 160 title with the devistating wild KO punch he landed while bloodied and swollen.... so peter gets no pass here......he quit when the going got tough.......very bad...and disgrace for a heavyweight champ...
