he was in decent shape, but he was outclassed.

And people who only post to say negative **** about fighters are a waste of bandwidth. ffs some people's avatars are just hate on boxers, why do these people even follow boxing? does it make them feel better to insult professional boxers? pathetic

Peter knew he was outclassed and had no chance of winning.

Yep,but thats James Toney.A whale comes in lighter than James Toney.
Being as fit & light as possible for an optimum shape pro like Vitali was far more important.

Sam Peter quit. Simple as that. Now, I would never mock a man for quitting, I think it's his right to know when he's beaten and save himself from possible severe physical injury/disablement. But most boxing fans would not agree, so the mocking will always happen when a guy quits, it's inevitable, you can't change that dated macho mentality, so there's no point in complaining or trying to educate/explain to them why that's a medieval viewpoint.

However, I see nothing wrong with mocking Sam Peter for the condition he came to the ring in, or for the tactics he employed. Peter had the status of world champion and was being paid handsomely for that fight, and he came in fat and with no strategy. You think after fighting James Toney for 24 rounds, he would have learned how to slip/roll punches just from watching Lights Out in action. You think he would have known he'd have to come in fit because mobility and agility would be key in getting around Klitschko's jabs - and you especially think he would've known this and trained for it since he had already fought and lost to Wlad!!

But no, he came in fat. Just fat. With nothing else. The guy deserves to be mocked for that. It was pathetic.

Maybe if we all got a bit angrier and mocked a bit, then heavyweights stop turning up for fights like fat, demotivated slobs and treating us to terrible terrible fights.

Boxers get the accolades and money too.Why are they exempt from criticism?
I dont think he was in good shape Pharoah.Thats why i find it harder to sympathise with him being battered to the point of quitting.
Fighting a frustrated, determined Vitali Klitschko in front of his own fans for the HW title? You KNOW Vitali is going to be really up for this.
I'd want to be in tip top shape in those circumstances.

I don't really get it. Anyone who knows boxing knew Peter was going to lose he's very limited. Sam was never anything great so I really don't get all the bashing. I guess people really didn't like him.

I was never a fan, I've hated him on a personal level since Toney vs Peter 1.

I think much of the frustration isnt about how Peter resigned after 8, but rather resigned before 1. After 8, his decision was understandable, and I wouldn't call it cowardly.

However his decision to not do ANYTHING for 8 rounds and let his opponent whoop his ass then retire, that's a lousy decision. He's the ****ing champion here, fighting a guy whose been off for four years. Where's your pride? Rather than get beat up for 8 rounds then retire, how about taking some chances in rounds 1-5? Sure you might get knocked out, but at least you fukn tried. Either get knocked out in a 5-round championship fight, or get stopped after an 8-round sparring session. It's like he agreed beforehand to be part of some fairytale, with himself as the villain.

That's why I'm criticizing Peter. There's no excuse for a world heavyweight champion to show up with no preparation and no will to fight. That's "quitting".

The K bro haters do the same or even worse. That's why many are giving it right back them. I've been very fair to Peter over the years - a lot more fair than many are to Vitali or Wlad. To me SP's perfomances vs JT & McCline were signs that he had NOT progressed. I've posted this view many times before last nites fight. I even gave SP a chance to win - if VK wasn't close to his ability of 4 years ago. But many on here hyped Peter to the moon - while dissing VK. And so Peter lost to old broken down Vitali :rofl

Now who looks biased and stupid?

You know it's a joke for a champ who is barely 6 ft tall to show up weighing 253+ in the biggest fight in his career, he is arrogant and unmotivated, Look how wide he is, 253+ is too much for the Klitchcos in there both tall as ****. Peter talked mad **** leading up to the fight but didn't even bother to get his fat ass in shape, he deserves to be mocked.
