Did you watch the fight? Shane was literally RUNNING. JMM fought on the backfoot against Pac, that was fine. Shane wasnt throwing punches, he kept his guard up and literally ran, it was a joke. And when Pac did get in close, he clinched. You compare it to Taylor-Chavez? laughable.
althugh it seems pac doesnt look all that impressive against a defensive/survival strategy, he still looked good enough to win rounds, which wins fights
You can't expect Pac to look incredible against the best fighters in the world every single time out. Im happy to accept he just had a bad night. Manny didn't push the fight as much as he could of (for whatever reason) and Shane didn't seem too willing to engage. Mosely didn't even look like he was trying to get a win by the end. Not a fight for the highlight reels but they can't all be, can they?
The British commentary team mentioned this quite a lot. Shane did well to make Pacquiao miss so much but unfortunately didn't throw anything himself. You don't win fights like that.
I come to esb to discuss boxing not get into pissing contests:happy. Arce chased and found Vasquez all night, Vazquez seemed the better fighter to me but he could not handle Arce's constant pressure. Arce did punch himself out and I don't think the fight should have been stopped. However that opportunistic stoppage happened because the older Arce kept ensuring that he found the younger vasquez. Which was something the younger Manny could not do to the older shane. I did not agree with you though on Mayweather attacking. I remember him countering out of a defensive posture until he got tired and found himself of the ropes. He really wasn't employing a lot of movement if I remember correctly. And I see you other point. I admit to being wrong therefore my credibility takes a hit.:tired Unfortunately that represents the state of affairs on esb today.
Yes I watched the fight, and I also remember, after the knockdown even, Mosley slipping and using head movement to make Manny miss alot. Do you remember seeing anything like that dangerousity? Do you also remember the times Shane slipped under Manny right hook before stepping to the left. That doesn't seem like running to me. It seems like what they teach in all boxing gyms about fighting a south paw, especially one with power, Shane simply forget to punch after pivoting to his left.
Thank you for writing this. Finally someone who can actually see what goes on inside the ring. Hard to find anything that isn't garbage around here
No problem bro. There is a reason why we have the adage "Styles makes fights" in boxing. There is a reason why mayweather looked good against JMM and SSM but didn't look so masterful against ODLH. Persons see Manny look good against a particular style and assume ohh he can run through anybody. In spite of this though, Manny is still p4p #1 right now.
Agreed however I think Floyd had a perfect fight against Oscar. Mayweather knows what he needs to do to get the W and will reclaim p4p best vs Pacquiao.
