Well my guess is the version of Vitali that Lewis would have fought in a rematch would kick the living crap out of the current verision of Vitali, so I don't really know what your point is. Obviously the "all comers" aren't quite up to the level of the V.K. that Lewis fought and beat..so again..you really making a meaningless point.

Lewis was a ***** simple. There was a rematch clause. LL reneged on it. Pretty much all the boxing public wanted the rematch because of the showing Vitali put on and the way the first ended. If Lewis had lost trust me he would have wanted his rematch.

You don't know what you're talking about.

Only the champion gets to insert a rematch cause it the contract, not the challenger, so Lewis didn't renege on anything. In fact I've been reading these threads ever since the fight happened, which is about 8 years now and this is THE FIRST TIME anyone ever said lewis reneged on a rematch clause..Show me your sources please or STFU.

Wind your neck in rookie. Its common knowledge that Vitali and LL had a verbal agreement that they would have a rematch but LL's mum encouraged him against it. Now **** off.

Lewis was shot to pieces by then.

    See his performance against Tyson.

People look at Lewis like he is a superhuman (I don't blame them) and can go on forever without losing anything.

Now it's a verb agreement is it..I suppose it's the one mentioned on TV. You're a moron.. if you think a legal rematch clause signed by two fighters is the same as a spur of the moment comment without any details being known by either party. Look I don't mind you sucking on V.K. balls half of ESB does that., but at least get your facts straight..jerk off.

the only reason LL said he would give a rematch is because big gay was acting like a ***** after the fight "rawr rawr remaaaatch reeemaaaaatch"

LL was like chill ok ok you got your rematch.

wow now we got ourselves another keyboard warrior..just what this board needed.

You calling me sensitive is hillarious..All I did was challenge your facts, ..you're one one who's freaking out about it. And as for me going anywhere else, it's a safe bet that I've been following boxing longer than you've been alive, so I aint going anywhere..besides that..at the end of the day we're all boxing fans..but on the general forum you get alot more fans of certain fighters rather than true fans of the sweet science.

As how a rematch between V.K. and Lewis would have unfolded, it's hard to say. My best guess is that if they fought, those cuts that Lewis inflicted in the first fight would likely have opened up again..as I'm sure Lewis would have done his best to try and make that happen. but who knows. For sure Lewis didn't want to take the risk of loosing..that much is certain. But when there's a passing of the tourch type of fight on the line, you generally only get once shot at it, and Vitali had his. Certainly after the cut in the 3rd, both he and his corner had to have known that the fight could be stopped at any time, and therefore Vitali had to have known that he might only have a few rounds to get the job done. But he didn't get it done and time ran out. End of story. As for the cuts being an accident, the one above the eye, sure it was a fluke, but not the other 2 cuts. And fluke or not, Lewis landed a punch with bad intentions and it did what it was suppose to do, which was to cause damage.

I cant honestly blame Lennox for calling it quits when he did...He was at the tale end of his career and he did the right thing IMO.

I wanted to see the second fight between these two as well, but I'm not going to make a big deal about it because Lennox knows his body better than anybody on this message board.

I was never a big Lewis fan, but give him props as a great HW champion.

A rematch would have been great for fans...and probably for Vitali, who at the time was hungry for that fight.

I read somewhere that he took it on short notice...pretty ballsy jumping into the fight of your life with only a short time to prepare.

It seems Lewis' only losses were when he was lazy or underestimating his opponents. Then, he would get squared away and come back for revenge and get the W.

Do you think he was underestimating Vitali? Do you think that he didn't want that hard of a fight at that stage of his career, and that is why he declined the rematch?

Then again may be not. Assumptions after all are the mother of all **** ups. Now like iv told you already put your teeth back in and get to stepping. There's a good boy. :thumbsup
