Berto will step it up in 2009. If he wins is another story, but I think he fights a live opponent after 2 more fights(Forbes, and another opponent).

Berto has not faced a single top tier welterweight....there is absolutely NO reason he should have the WBC belt....but now that he does have it he should have no choice but to fight the top guys from here on out. If you want to be a world champ then you have to constantly face top world class opposition, so we shouldn't have to see him face any more top 20 guys....its definitely time for Berto to step it up.

since he's got the wbc belt, berto should step up form the estrada's of this world and fight some serious contenders. fight clottey of someone worth a damn in the division. imo he's just keeping that belt warm before the big boys take it from him.

well i think forbes is actually a good test, it's in the realm of possibility that he could lose that fight whereas there was no chance in hell he was ever losing to mickey rodriguez, michel trabant, etc (berto himself admits his toughest test so far has been david estrada and estrada got owned within the past couple weeks by soto-karass i believe)... if he can get past forbes, i'd like to see him take on a crafty vet like quintana or collazo

Berto is green but it's time to **** or get off the pot. Paul Williams was still green but it didn't stop him from beating Margo at his own game
