Check him out on boxrec, 72-3 and he's only 31! He fought Daisuke Naito 3 times and they split with a draw. Before losing to Naito on an extremely close decision, he had won 49 in a row including 17 title defenses! In my book this qualifies him as a true BAD ASS. Anybody with me?

It was pretty epic His commentary on Maskaev vs Rahman was pretty awesome too. In the 12th round it's the pinnacle of excitement. You could tell he really has some sort of issue with Rahman.

Yeah, Wonjongkam is one of the most criminally overlooked fighters of the last decade, but one of the reasons is that his team never seemed too interested fighting outside of Thailand, where he's a Pacquiao like legend. He traveled to Japan a few times, but when Jorge Arce, the most exciting little guy in those years, captured the interim version of Pongsaklek's title, neither side pushed for the big one for my personal disappointment.

Now he's the interim titlist and Daisuke Naito is the full champ, so chances are good we'll see (I mean the Japanese and Thai TV audience) will see a very rare 5th match-up. Don't even hope for a Donaire match-up, it will never happen.

 

Looks like he is starting to fade a bit but his very well schooled and his defensive ability is keeping him in the hunt for the title still.
His last fight with Naito was a straight up ***** to score..both guys canceled each other out with their contrasting styles and I think a draw is a fair call.
But shows how good this guy is, even when he is starting to slow down he is still very hard to beat convincingly, if at all.

I think without a doubt the best flyweight of his era, the best since Toosharp IMO.
His lack of big names will count against him when its all said and done..though he has a couple of very good fighters on his record.

In all honesty he would make more fighting Daisuke Naito five more times than fighting in the United States against more dangerous opponents. I would probably do the same at this point in his career.

 

Make no mistake Naito is as dangerous if not more so then any U.S based fighter at flyweight at the moment.

Only Donaire IMO is a more formidable option for Pong in the U.S. The states aint were its at for flyweight.
