    Hey all,

I decided to upload this file for anyone who wants to see an in depth interview with Dempsey about his early training and 'current' training practices.
This was originally going to be a copied text write up, however this behemoth was lost due to my frustrating PC and my own ineptitude. The link below should work.

I think anyone who reads this will find some very interesting insights regarding Dempsey, and his training. It even briefly states the breathing exercises Dempsey performs, among weight usage and laborer work.

    Here ya go.

Good read. I like how he mentions shadowboxing on page 4 as one of the most important things you can do, Dempsey was consistent on this because he stated the same thing in "championship fighting"

Dunno where you found it but thanks for sharing

Yep. Shadowboxing with weights to strengthen the arms, shoulders etc. Didn't Battling Neslon also do as such?

Yep, for absurd amounts of rounds too

I've seen GGG shadowbox with weights as well

Shadowboxing and Sparring are the ESSENTIAL exercises for fighters in my opinion. Allows you to visualise, correct form, work cardio, develop relaxation and smoothness, amongst many other benefits.

    Thanks for reading.

I may have missed something but it seemed like his roadwork consisted solely of walking? Very interesting.

I think this was only for that specific period. He doesn't explain fully to know anyway.

Generally in the opposite direction to any coloured contenders ( beat ya to it Seamus)

In all seriousness I hope Seamus knows that it was Doc Kearns who drew up the color line, and not Dempsey

The gist is that there's no substitute for hard work. And he's absolutely right about tough daily manual labor providing the lean muscle and toughness needed as foundation for a good fighter. That "wirey" strength you get from hours of reppetitive motion doing things like shoveling snow or loading packages onto trucks is far more useful to a fighter than 30-60 minutes a day lifting weights for shiney muscles that require tons of oxygen and make you stiff.
