"After 4 rounds Dempsey is just another hooker." that or something like that was Johnson´s oppinion on Dempsey. Imo he knew how to beat him. Johnson UD, late TKO.
canibus i think a prime tyson would have a shot at any man who ever stepped threw the ropes its depressing he let himself decline into a headhunter only, and let his fight game deminish.i think dempsey at his best was a better boxer but many ignore when he boxed and said it was struggeling ,like gibbons .tyson was neck and neck with him on the inside, but dempsey i.m.o. had more heart wich is were i think he edges tyson but both are in my top 5 at prime along with ali, louis, jeffries then johnson, foreman, frazier, fitzsimmons ect,ect in no particular order but i cant make up my mind very good and my top 5 and 10 changes alot especially the order
But yet you say we are both wrong?:huh Demsey was a savage puncher and a good boxer to boot (remember it was Demsey who changed boxing in to a faster more agressive speed style of fighting)-though that seems to have been forgotten.
Neither Tyson nor Dempsey were enhanced versions of the other. They both excelled in a couple of different areas beyond the other, and they had some stylistic differences. They were two different fighters.
I do recall a Ring article where the author brought the matter up with Jack, who to him verified it with a, "I told you I would beat him." The writer said Jack made him promise not to bring the matter to press until after he died, can't recall his name offhand.
