No, never, because Dempsey didn't have a bout with Klomptons god Harry Greb. That fact has eaten away at his mind to the point where he becomes unhinged at the slightest mention of Dempsey. For such an obviously intelligent guy....his book on Greb is a marvelous accomplishment...his views on Dempsey are frankly to be ignored. It's as if he has created a Dnon mythology where Dempsey drinks the blood of children that he has murdered. Sad, really.
Whatever the reaction of others, my view of the ending has evolved watching and re-watching the film. I began open to the theory that Sharkey was faking it while on the floor. I always thought there was a low blow but considered it possible he exploited it trying for a DQ. Now I think the only reasonable explanation is that Sharkey was fouled and in pain. I can't see him being together enough to grab his groin within two seconds of going down, and I can't see him staying down while the referee counts him out, if all of it was just an act. Just my take, and thanks for the thread, William.
The most likely scenario was he was fouled in a fight with plenty of rough stuff to go around , turned his head and got clobbered from the hook ... the punch did lift him off the ground and legitimately drop him .. he was not acting but semiconscious and in pain ..
That's kind of what I was doing to. Cuz of the old video not always being clear, I thought we should be open minded about whether or not it was a low blow or just a good body punch, or Sharkey faking it. Now I believe there may have been a couple of low blows. But no matter what anyone thinks, it's nothing to get hot under the collar about. Your welcome, although, I will admit the last couple of pages got out of hand.
