Baer had a great right hand ,and a top chin ,but Dempsey had too much of everything for him, imo.
I see Max sitting on the floor ,fully conscious , capitulating ,as he did against Louis.

Having a good defense and beating your man to the punch is part of controlling and beating a big puncher though isnt it. I think Wlad has made up for his vunerability to punchers

Sure but Wladimir hasn't dealt with such aggression since he fought Sam Peter and even then Peter looks subdued compared to Max Baer. I don't think a technical approach is necessarily the way to beat Wladimir because he has the best technique out there, if he's going to be beat it's probably by someone who goes out swinging and catches him on the chin.

It was actually Manny Steward who said that Shannon Briggs was one of the most dangerous opponents out there for Wladimir, this several years ago. We know what Briggs brings and it's not technique/stamina.

TRUE! Manny Steward also said he never liked matching Hearns or McCrory with extremely physical dudes with a great chin and power, cuz they were dangerous as hell for his boys...... Steward liked guys who fought his boys in a technical sense because Steward's boys were always well adept at BOXING and punching........

The way to beat Wlad Klit is to get tuff and physical with him...... Laying back and picking your shots with Klit is fruitless........

Baer of course has a punchers chance but Dempsey overall is the more complete package. Baer is too inconsistent and mentally erratic whereas Dempsey is a pure figher. Dempsey enjoyed fighting while Max didn't and that I feel is the deciding factor. If Max can't KO Jack early then he becomes discouraged at Dempsey's continued onslaught and finds a soft place on the canvas....Legitimately or not.

Prime for prime i'd take Dempsey on points. Past his prime I think Baer would beat Dempsey by KO.

I think your underrating the danger of his opponents. Brewster was past prime but had blown out Golota, Krasniqi and Wlad himself and hit like a ton of bricks. Brewster is probably a bigger puncher than. Peter was a clubber of a puncher and a bear of a man. Chagaev was putting them away at Euro level but prob past prime too. Brock looked brutal on occasion

What people forget is if people just come trying to KO someone like Wlad, they will likely leave themselves open and get bombed out themselves

Brewster was coming off eye surgery though and has been proven to be washed up. He didn't have the same fire in him that he did when he beat Wladimir the first time. It was a jab clinic but Brewster to me looked discouraged from the beginning. Recently he lost to some mediocre fighter who was beaten soon after.

Peter is a clubber and he did have Wladimir in some trouble. Still, he's relatively stationary and while Baer doesn't exactly have great footwork, he's much more aggressive and relentless in his attack than Peter.

I've followed Chagaev's whole career and he is not much of a puncher in my eyes. Solid technician, if flat-footed, but not a notable puncher.

Brock had minor success with body blows from what I remember.

It's a big chance to take against Wladimir if you go at him recklessly but atleast you give yourself a chance unlike his past couple of opponents who have simply stood back while being picked apart.
