If Ward thought he could get anywhere the weight needed to get Mayweather in a ring, he would, and for exactly the same reason GGG would. Money it would take them at least 3 years to earn in any other fights.
F, MONEY< MONEY< MONEY...After all, that would make GGG set for life financially. I though do not chastise Mayweather for giving a deaf ear to this challenge...In GGG I fervently believe that we have a killer in our midst...
Tbf, except for the last round in the first Toney fight I don't think McCallum was that hurt at any other time in his career.
You're telling me GGG vs Ward wouldn't be a big fight?? Still if he's only interested in money go get the minuscule Mayweather...
No comparison. Ward hasn't been relevant to the boxing public for 3+ years and he was barely becoming a commodity then.
Why? He can move up when he feels like it. He's small for 160, hasn't unified or broken the record for title defenses yet. I guess you feel that Hagler and Hopkins stayed at 160 way after it was time for them to move up?
Hey Burt. I wasn't implying GGG necessarily had to beat SMW or LHW fighters, per se. I was just saying that as much as I like GGG (and he is my second favorite active fighter right now behind Chocolatito), he has not fought anybody good enough to say he is ready for the Julian Jackson's of the world. Unfortunately, the Middleweight division outside of GGG is either undersized and cowardly (Cotto), or mediocre at best (Quillan, Jacobs, Lemieux, Lee, etc). I think GGG is the real deal, but until he actually beats a good fighter it is too early to say if he could hang with Jackson. Froch and Ward are just two fighters whose scalps would say he is indeed ready for that type of challenge.
Golovkin's a superior technician but he really needs to fight a serious live body to see how good he is. Crazy to think just how untested he is still, despite being a belt holder for some time now. Yes I know He wants bigger fights but so far his management and promoters haven't delivered. Anyway, he's a superior technician but unless he has Hagler/La Motta levels of durability, you cannot discount Jackson. He could crack almost any chin if he connected right
SB, say what you will. In Lemieux, GGG chose a guy with one of the deadliest left hooks I ever saw...He is not a great fighter all around, but he is DANGEROUS because of his vaunted left hook. He reminds me of an Argentinian middleweight years ago who I saw ringside several times, Eduardo Lausse who made it tough for all his opponents...This is GGG's most dangerous opposition ever and this fight will answer many question about Golovkin...
Lemiux will give us answer to thread question since he has much similarities with Jackson. Regarding GGG vs Mayweather, GGG agreed to fight at light middleweight since May has title. I havent heard that Ward wants to fight at 164 let alone 160, and he is calling GGG every freakin day. If he wants GGG to rebuild his career, he should agree to terms.
