Brian Vera saved Andy Lee from Pavlik.

Walker and Smith probably saved Jacobs.

Jacobs needs to find his pro identity. If he wants to box and counter, he needs to improve his stamina, and if he wants to fight inside and trade, he needs to improve his stamina and his strength. In both cases, he needs to learn to tuck his chin also.

As people are saying, some of this will come with time.

No offense Boo because I'm from Cleveland and I love Pvlik, but at 22, he was fighting at the Girard fair. I can't be lieve how little respect Jacobs has gotten tonight after beating a tough guy in Smith. Can he beat Kelly? Hell, no. But he could hold his own against most of the top 15 mw's right now.

Not sure what you're going on about. Danny Jacobs should not be anyhwere near a top 20 guy yet. Smith was a good way to follow Walker. It's smart to mix up the styles. However, I can think of at least a dozen mediocre middleweights who would take Danny's zero right now, and make it look easy. He needs a few more opponents from the bottom third of the top 50 before thay even consider stepping him up.

One concern I have about both Jacobs and Korobov is that 160 is so shallow they could very well get pushed to far, to fast. That would be a real waste. Both show tons of potential.

Agree with you. I was making a joke about the Pavlik thing. But Jacobs is fighting top 30 guys already on HBO. I think he needs 3 or 4 more fights before he's ready for a top 15 guy. However, he would easily beat anyone from 30-50 at middleweight right now. I thought he looked good tonight.

Jacobs hasn't even boxed 2 years as a pro... yet you're hating on him.

His defense needs to get a lot better if he wants to hang with the big boys.

My point exactly. People have to give the guy a break. Look up any champion right now in any division. At 22, most of them were fighting for peanuts at a high school. Danny is already on HBO fighting a guy ranked in the top 30-40. I hope he keeps up this pace, fights three to four more fights like this, and then challenges a guy just outside of the top 10. Then, if all goes well, in late 2010, early 2011, he makes his run at a title.

Honestly I don't know if anybody has ever looked against Ishe Smith. I think people are really hating on this kid. If he was 25 or 26 and in his 4th year as a pro, it would be right to say he's going nowhere, but now isn't the time.

Sturm doesn't have power punching ability.

After his last performance, I honestly think Jacobs might beat Sturm right now.

This kid is the biggest hype job in the sport today. I have watched his last 3 fights and he has been average at best! I'm sorry and I'm sure i'll be called a hater but he will amount to nothing IMO. I've been saying this for a while now and i'll stick by what I said.
    This is why;
    Below average defence
    Below average Power
    Below average stamina
Don't know if he can take a punch yet?
Hasn't fought anything yet and has still looked very very average!

Amir Khan gets alot of stick on here and rightly so some of it but remember he's also only 22! and even that c*nt Frank Warren has matched him alot tougher than Jacobs!!!!:hi:

Well, i would hope that he would get beat by those top 5 dudes. It would just show how weak the division really is if a fighter who isn't near his prime beats all those fighters lol. This was a good fight for him, he was in against a solid opponent who tried to shake him up, but he stayed cool and he won the fight. It was a test and he passed it. The kid has a lot to learn, but he has A LOT of potential.

Neither does Ishe and he was able to hurt/stun Jacobs.

I like him, a decent prospect that we need to give time to mature a little in the ring.... learn the trade a bit better, right now he kinda reminds me of a poor mans taylor, not quite obviously as taylor fights more with his jab and maybe more flat footed but i kinda get that resemblance..... they should slow it down a bit, maybe have a rematch with Ishe, or keep it at that level for a few more fights....

OR match him with Miranda so my boy can get back on board with a W
