Needless to say I felt suitably vindicated hearing about both afterward. Unlike Mayweather-Pacquiao though, I felt Tyson-Paul being a success was an indictment on our society - & I’m not being facile.

    McG could do it.
He was locked in his contract when he fought Floyd aswell.
There s always time for a one off.

    No is the answer

Against the very early champs like Corbett, Jefferies, Johnson etc. unless he finishes them early, i don't see how. And again Jefferies was a 220 lb tank who was never stopped in his prime. I don't see how he beats those guys in long distance fights.

Dempsey is the first champ for whom we have good quality footage. Dempsey destroys him. Jack is quicker, hits harder, has unbelievable ferocity to his game.

Louis vs Paul wouldn't get sanctioned. Good luck to Jake if he thinks he can absorb or avoid the triple left hook that Louis nailed Baer with.

Paul has 1 fight vs a semi decent pro (Fury) and he arguably lost that. I mean come on.

TBH I don't like what Jakes doing, I want him to take a risk but its no different then most superstar boxers... everyone pads the record to start the career.... Mayweather was fighting 3-50 guys to start lol

TBH Canelo would be best to just do the business now while he still has it... the age gap could give Jake a win if they wait 5 or 6 years.

Canelo will be a shell of himself in 5 years.. gets hit to much

it would be nice to see him pursuit a real Career,

just to see how far he could actually get, he would certainly be on the Fringe, especially in today's Boxing where a handful of Win's can get you ranked, which often depends on who Owns you and is Bank rolling you... and that is where his 'already' popularity and money making power would basically ensure him some proper management & steering into place.

I'm sure in a Real Honest scenario, he wouldn't be a Contender, but as it isn't honest, he just might.

My guess however, is, he will carry on just as he is, get another Big Fight, maybe 2, until the novelty ware's thin for the viewers and that will be the end of JP... the true road to a Crown would be too hard and run him short, not worth the commitment when Big Money is already attainable.

in fact, writing this has just left me feeling sour again, about True Roads too Titles are rarely a fact anyway... Sad and a real Heart Breaker for many a Great Fighter along the way.

I don't think Paul is even Lennox Lewis level.

Maybe I’ve misunderstood you but Fury was awarded a split decision against Paul.

So I'm going to go ahead and say that Paul isn't worthless in a boxing sense. He's come along miles from where he once was and physically he looks pretty good. I'd say he's the equivalent of a journey man or a low level journeyman right now.

The sticking point is that he trawls graveyards and mortuaries for his opponents. It's virtually all retirees or fighters that are beyond shot. So of course he looks good. These old time fighters would not gas after a round and most of them had more grit than P50 sandpaper. I'm guessing it will be the first time Paul would be in an actual fight with a guy that fights for a train ticket and a plate of beans.

Hey, maybe he has what it takes, who knows?

But we have never seen him tested.

My best guess is that even if he's better trained with more modern techniques, that after a few rounds with dudes like Jeffries or Johnson, he's gonna be blowing his ass out and looking for the exit.

The same Jake Paul who lost to Tommy Fury you mean? That'll be a big fat NO.

To be fair, his point stands. You could make a very strong argument Paul lost that fight.

In 5 years Paul will be 32 and slower, plus what big fights could he have in those 5 years? If he fight Tommy Fury again he will lose.

Floyd never fought a 58 year old or Askren who was nothing but an overrated wrestler, Askren`s striking was laughed at in the MMA world.
