I wrote one of the best lines I ever put to paper about Jake in my breakdown of his last fight with sugar Ray. https://imgur.com/gallery/ckrLP "If Ray Robinson was god's gift to boxing, then Jake Lamotta was the Devil's own counterpoint."

    RIP champ.

So sorry to hear this sad news.

A legend, a survivor, a rough, tough, durable world champion.

I saw him receive a rousing ovation when introduced at ringside for the first pro fight card I ever attended - Quarry -Norton at Madison Square Garden in 1975.

    RIP Champ!

Jake took some losses but he was willing to fight just about anyone. I think he deserves the utmost respect for his boxing career. He was as tough as they come and more skilled than people may realize at first glance.

    RIP an amazing life.

Are there any fighters alive from that era? Lamotta was born 1 year after Ezzard Charles and Sugar Ray Robinson.

I kind of think Mike Tyson of all people will manage to live to some extreme old age like Lamotta did.

Watched some of his footage again today. Dude had skills. Certainly not just a tough, iron-chinned come forward fighter.
