Jamel William Herring vs. Tevin Farmer

Apparently they both want the smoke, aiming for early 2024.

38 year old Herring just returned from an 18 month layoff and obliterated a completely unprepared 13-0 feather-fist in a single round. He looked very sharp, with no rust under Wayne McCullough's guidance.

33 year old Farmer, great-nephew of legendary Joe Gans, was out for almost 2½ years (starting before Covid) before his two fights so far this year, with a third scheduled for December 1st, opponent TBA.

Southpaw vs. southpaw

 

I think they're friends (maybe past sparring partners?) but doubt that would stop them from going to war over a chance to make one more run at contention.

Farmer has a whole lot more left in the tank than Herring IMO.

 

I didn't see the Jamaine Ortiz loss but have seen it called a whitewash. Last night, FWIW, in the few minutes we saw, he did still look serviceable.

 

Neither did I, but the Shakur fight is still stuck in my mind for him. And Farmer's hands are still just as quick as always, and he never really took much damage. I don't thin Jermel is any danger of being hurt (clearly) but outworked....................

 

Tevin wins on points. Maybe stoppage if they go at each other.
Styles would favor Farmer in a 116-112 type fight.
