Douglas had one night, period ... it was excpetional but one night and that does not a career make ...
And you can counter it with the fact that Mike "The Giant "White beat him and that he basically quit against both Tucker and Holyfield,he didn't have the balls of his Old Man, Billy" Dynamite "Douglas.
Rooster never said it did or does. He simply asks whether on this "one" good night could he duplicate Max's KO defeat of Joe Louis?
Douglas was an up and down fighter he lost to people he should not have, Tyson was his peak fight but it wasn't his only good fight he took it to Tucker until gassing out, he was 13lb heavier here than for the Tyson fight so not the best shape and he defeated Page, Berbick and McCall, this is a solid resume if not spectacular, Douglas was not a one fight wonder, but he was inconsistant.
Take only the best fight a fighter has ever fought. Doesn't matter at all if he never duplicates this form again - not even once. If we assume this, then yes, the Buster Douglas who beat Mike Tyson would definitely be one of the 10 all time greats.
This is always the argument with Buster did he have all time great talent that he for the most part never used.
