Make no mistake about it, James Toney is an ATG. His strong resume at middleweight and supermiddleweight along with his late run at cruiserweight and heavyweight make him an ATG. Besides, the man has astonishing skills and did what noone did, compete regularly with the best heavyweight while starting out as a middleweight. Lack of discipline, stereoid abuse and lack of consistency speak against Toney.
Hows that a fail? did he realy deserve 2 L's against Griffin? Did you watch the first sam peter fight? who did peter fight next after that? Oh yeah, maskaev..........expain urself cretin.atsch
toney is one of my favourite fighters to watch. At any weight, its always like watching a master at work...however the drug thing has taken some of the appeal off...im not sure what happened there so il try not to be quick to judge
With fair judges Griffin 2 & Peter 1 could've still gone either way. There was nothing to "fail to realise".
lack of discipline and lack of consistency is totally different to steroid abuse. If your a steroid abuser- a dirty cheat(especially in the dangerous sport of boxing) i basically lose most of my respect for you. Im not saying he was a continual steroid abuser because i dont know...
no, im sorry he deserved to win all 3 fights. Peter 1 could have gone EITHER way. ok. u clearly have not seen the fight. :hi:
Why thankyou for sharing your wisdom with me, yeah so i spellt Jirovs name wrong. Please dont question my knowledge considering some of the glowing mistakes you have just written. You have listed a lot of facts there one has to wonder who you are trying to convince me or your self. My opinion is mine and this forum allows us to express just that and I will not be told that Toney is not what you claim him to be. He beat some really good fighters and deserves respect but he was and shall remain a cheat, a vulgar bad example of a human being. He was losing the Nunn fight and some of the guys you listed whilst being undefeated I doubt will rekindle the memory of many. I thank you for your reply and appreciate your view, it just differs from mine.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but like Dinamita I too have to question your knowledge because your arguments aren't convincing at all. Toney's (like Mosley) steroid affair does not prevent him from being a great fighter at all. And Toney was breaking Nunn down, but regardless of how you saw it and if you saw at all, it does not hurt Toney's legacy at all.. Dinamita listed relevant facts why Toney shall be regarded as a true ATG. You weren't taken any position to those facts because as you had no answer. It is called lack of knowledge.
He's one of my favorite fighters. I don't really rate him highly head to head against a lot of fighters, but he is a lot of fun to watch.
:good His knowledge of boxing is definately of the lowest tier on ESB, i don't mind that at all, just don't try argue facts you can't back up.
Actualy cheats cheat for a reason, they cant convince themselves they can win fairly so they cheat. Toney and Mosely alike. Lack of knowledge please, I stated no facts I asked no one to think I was all knowing I stated an opinion which I still stand by. Should I start quoting statistics to appear bright. I had took no position to the reply not because I had no answer but simply that if some one was that determined to prove his point so be it. In addition Toney was losing that fight it reminded me of Honeyghan Curry although the raggamuffin man was doing slightly better but none the less. Thank you for your comment.
I have stated my reasons, seems to me members of this group quote statistics and are deemed boxing historians, you question my knowledge, all I can say is I could probably do more than back up facts you question me on and surprise you. I will not require google or a boxing history book either. Thank you for your comment
