Toney has taken off the weight slowly, he is working on his weight issue since months. I have no doubt that Toney will not be drained as a cruiserweight.
Whether it is at 200, 210 or 220 pounds Toney needs to be active and in shape instead of hoping to land big fights against Tarver or Hopkins. JT needs to realize that he is coming from nowhere: his fanbase is nonexistant compared to other legends and his last significant win was 2 1/2 years ago against Oquendo.
I second that. I'm a long time JT fan and have been hoping he'd come in seriously in shape at HW (210-215) and do some damage there but it's actually better he drops back to CW as i think being above 200 is still too much weight for a guy who stands 5'10". Props to Toney for wanting to test himself up at heavy but he missed the boat by eating himself silly. I reckon if he has really taken the weight off gradually so he loses fat and not muscle mass then he can be a force down at Cruiser and maybe pick up a couple of titles. His first fight will be against a no name opponent and will be for the IBA Cruiserweight title, mark my words...
I actually think Toney made a god run at heavyweight. He has beaten some decent heavys Holyfield, Guinn, Oquendo. Draw with Rahman. He also gave good preformances against Peter I, Ruiz, Rahman II. Remember the guy is 5.10 and comes from middleweight. His heavyweight run will only add to his elgacy in the long term, you will see.
Toney at any weight is punch drunk, his eyes are glazed and he drools and slurs and mumbles his words. He doesn't belong in a boxing ring any more for his own good.
I don't believe him for one second. A Tarver fight would be cool but hasn't he got a UFC fight lined up?
Sad for Toney, weight loss isn't all that's wrong with him. He's punchy as hell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fJnPIYDuYRk
Last time Toney looked good was when he beat Sam peter in 2006 and was robbed by the judges. Since then he has looked more and more shot. No matter what his weight, Toney is at least 5 years past it now. Too little too late, the story of his life.
Just seen watched toney fight for first time (aginst jirov and holyfield), guy is so ****in slick . Would love to see him fight tarver at cruiserweight
I hate to say this but he reminds me on Ali at the end of his career when he wasn't healthy any more.James Toney doesn't look good at all.I always say that age is number but Toney looks shut.I hope that I am wrong.

http://bigpunchers.blogspot.com/
