He probably would, but hey I'm not a professional boxer. I'm actually a big fan of James, but he will get his ass beaten in his current condition. See the difference between prizefighter and now and you know I'm right.
Now that's a better response. Obese is just a big stretch, He's not in fighting shape right now but he's in the gym training, the guy loves boxing and he's not going to stop so why not keep supporting him.
All his training clips I see on Instagram seem to be nothing but him lifting weights as well. I can only recall seeing one hash tagged with cardio or somethin where he was jogging on a tread mill Seems liks he should be more focused on his stamia and cardio conditioning more so then constant weights he needs to be able to make it through the duration of the fight without constantly running on empty!
One of the most tragic stories, one that is sadly still unraveling. James Toney was never some incredible orator, but he used to be clearly understandable. He was at one time a well conditioned, beast of a middleweight / super middleweight. He is now an obese, horribly brain damaged, washed up fighter with a ton of yes men around him, lying to him that he still has it. It's like watching what happened to Ali all over again... both of those guys happen to be among my favorite fighters all time.
Toney has a better time now than ever to decision the low talent pool of heavyweights. Look at how Klitschko is ducking him but will fight Leagai, come on Leapai but won't fight holyfield or toney. Please
Looks like he couldn't fight his way out of an all night diner though I confess I wouldn't say that to his face.
The thing is Toney has always spoken with a kinda lisp. It's not as bad as you think. But I get were you're at bro.
It's not the lisp, it's that he can't even enunciate the most simple of words, stumbles in his speech constantly, and is literally incomprehensible when he gets to talking fast. Yeah, he has always been a "street talker," who never sounded brilliant, but you can truly hear the brain damage when he speaks now, one of the worst cases of being punch drunk I've ever seen. Toney has been known to never train outside of sparring, he substitutes everything for sparring, so he has honestly been in there for way too many rounds, and taken too many shots. I don't want to see where he will be in 10 years....
It was sad watching Lucas Browne hitting him, although toney was fighting back and looked good at times Browne kept feeding him the right all night..sad watching a legend fighting a fringe contender on a non televised event
