You can’t type out that last line after saying that Ward would have won easily.

    Gotta go Ward UD.

Toney was an amazing counter puncher and in-fighter but that requires guys to come at him and/or stay on the inside. Ward would just take that strength away and box from the outside and pick his spots. He'll force Toney to reset. And Ward wasn't too shabby on the inside either so when he was there, he won't get dominated.

I wouldn't count out Toney catching Ward with something devastating coming in due to his skills and maybe getting a KD but over a 12 round fight, I think Ward UDs him.

There are a lot of things that it'd be impossible to properly factor in pre-fight. Which version of Toney shows up? How strict is the ref going to be?

Ward is too slick to be beaten by James the Fat Boy Toney.

Andre would probably be able to duplicate the Roy Jones performance with his own personal touch. But that is a very interesting match up. Not sure the fight itself would be interesting though.

Toney is better against heavier and more static opponents.

*Sorry, Ward actually wins this very easily. Big UD.

Andre couldn’t have replicated Roy’s performance.

He doesn’t possesses Roy’s speed or reflexes.

There’s no way it would have been easy for either guy.

Toney would win a UD or get a late stoppage.

Depending on whether Ward decides to chase the fight, he may get stopped late. As he would consistently lose round after round.

If you were to design a bad style match up for Ward then Toney would be that style.

James Toney by decision. I think everyone knows James Toney was hot and cold depending on opponent and motivation so I'm simply going to select the best version of Toney vs. the best version of Andre Ward. Ward's best chance vs. Toney would be to sustain an outside lateral movement strategy against Toney, that could work. But.............Ward always eventually comes inside and muscles, mauls and imposes his strength against fighters. At his best, He mauls and breaks people down on the inside. This wouldn't work against Toney. James is quite possibly one of the best inside fighters ever, bar none, all weight classes included. James has never been out muscled by anyone, he's never lost a trench war. Everyone knows his deficiency is that he'll get lazy and not want to chase a fighter around, that is literally his only disadvantage here. I don't think anyone can point to a fight in his career where he was beat up on the inside..........outboxed from the outside yes, beat up on the inside no.

This is why I pick Toney by decision, at their best, both are inside fighters. Ward is an extremely good inside fighter, James Toney is the best at it.

James Toney would win by wide decision or late stoppage. He was a far superior boxer.

It would be even easier if an honest ref would be working the fight, who would prevent Ward from using his dirty, illegal tactics.

Ward is an in and out fighter who can execute a gameplan.

James Toney has beaten better and more skilled boxers than fraud Ward. Whilst Fraud Ward has never faced anybody close to the technical skill level of James Toney. Mike Mccallum would've done a number on Ward, much less Toney.

Peak Toney obliterates Ward worse than he did Holyfield. Ward is going to be hitting shoulders and air all-night long, whilst James Toney teaches that clown what true inside-boxing and how to differentiate between real inside-fighting and cheating.
