Toney was known to outbox his opponents. Then he was being outboxed by Nunn, he adapted to the lateral movement, the use of range used by Nunn and made it into a mans fight and KO Nunn. That was adaptation. Calzaghe hasnt never shown adaptation at world class level in his whole career so its just clear bull**** you saying Calzaghe was "one of the most adaptable champions in the sport" Toney who no longer had the footwork at higher weights showed versatility to adjust and fight in the pocket vs guys like Ruiz, Holyfield, Jirov. So for you to say this is "An are Toney failed miserably to improve on" is another clear bull****. Calzaghe didnt test himself when the young lions of the game were lurking around his weight class: Andre Ward, Carl Froch, Andre Dirrell, Chad Dawson, Kelly Pavlik, Jean Pascal. You can say he would have beaten them, but that is just speculation, Calzaghe didnt have the brains to adapt with younger fighters so he ran away from the sport knowing his "0" is in danger.
Jeff Lacy was a hypejob who aint done **** in his whole career his best win is over Syd Vanderpool Kessler was a great win, no doubt, but was dismantled far more easily by a green Andre Ward. Calzaghe chose to fight RJJ instead of: Chad Dawson, Hopkins II, Kelly Pavlik, Antonio Tarver whom in my opinion were far more tougher opposition than RJJ at the time. At this time Calzaghe hurried to leave the game ASAP.
Since you are claiming Calzaghe adapted, you need to bring the proof. I will tell you from what I saw in Calzaghe vs Hopkins. Calzaghe was eating lead right hands from round 1 to round 12. In the early rounds he was doing an amatuer mistake of not rolling with the punches, hence he was knocked down easily and rather flashy. But in the later rounds began to apply the basics and roll with the punches. If you call this adaptation at the highest level, and think that this adaptation is far more respectable than Toney Knocking out undefeated Michael Nunn in a fight Toney was being outboxed and behind on points, then I think you giving Calzaghe some unnecessary credit, and Toney some unneccessary hate. Toney displayed versatility and adaption at higher levels than Calzaghe did. Are you saying the way James Toney cut the ring off and boxed with Mike McCallum on the front foot here:- [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHzzdkcK1u0[/ame] And also here with Michael Nunn:- [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWtl-ae65qI[/ame] And also here with Reggie Johsnon [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6b-zhzsh64[/ame] Is the same as Toney fighting on the backfoot vs Jirov here:- [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3BsCXRgB88[/ame] Toney became a fat ****, when this happend his speed, his movement diminished. Its obvious he wont fight as he used to, coz he obviously cant.
this is arguably esb's post of the month from a poster brimming with irrefutable potential artyartyartyartyartyartyarty
They way you guys suck each others dicks is pretty sad... I mean, what grown mad posts like you do, and uses smiley's like that? You a ****in poof or what? :huh
Calzaghe was another Warren fighter who was protected just like Hatton.Calzaghe`s first 15 wins were a lower calibre than Froch`s first 15 wins and as for the Eubank win, well,i think Eubank coming into the fight given nine days notice and at the end of his career virtually, its not a credible win, just like Jones and Bhop wasn`t.
Minions cant pawn an elite poster like Headbanger atsch. Ive never seen Headbanger lose a debate on ESB, but have witnessed Headbanger Pawn minions by the bucket load
Ive got to go with Toney, although i dont believe it would be the demolition job most seem to think. But still, Toney by UD
