Tiberi had his number at middleweight as per the only empirical evidence, the fight which actually occurred and which not even close, as some would suggest.

Tiberi reminded me Vito Antuofermo a little bit. Rough, durable, aggressive great stamina but lacking KO power. Hagler had tough first 15 round fight with Vito but Hagler was prepared for Antuofermo, Toney wasn't prepared for any middleweight at that time. Never seen him so clumsy.

Nunn was not a t the top of his game when Toney caught him. He was drained. Fact is he never fought again @ 160 since then.

    This was Tiberi's bout.

Toney was sluggish and beaten to the punch most of the fight. How Tiberi did not win that fight is a mystery. One of the worst decisions in all of boxing history.

This is basically how I've always seen the fight as well (and I've always been in the extreme minority on this issue as well). Tiberi was the constant aggressor and pushed Toney around throughout the fight, but he wasn't necessarily the more effective puncher. Toney often landed the cleaner punches despite being backed up and looking weary for much of the fight.

There were a number of fights where I thought Toney got an outright gift - McCallum II, Rahman I, Oquendo - but I don't consider this fight one of them.

    Good comparison.

This was a robbery almost without parallel...I watched the fight on tv, admittedly not the same as watching it at ringside, but when it was over, I was sure of who won...the idea of a doublecross by the judges never crossed my mind.

What a horrible post. You just stated you had not seen the fight. Why are you even commenting then?
