Id take Eubank over Toney but him and Benn is a 50-50 war.

    LOL

You highly under estimated Watson who knockedout Benn and lost in a war to a prime McCallum not the old man Toney got.

    Boxrec for idiots applies here.

Benn could take a shot better at SM than at Middle. Thats a fact. McCllelan was a huge puncher and Benn TKO 10. I agree he does'nt have a great chin, but to say he had a bad chin is going overboard.

    BTW Hull 1-3 Arsenal!

Nah, i just think his defence improved post Eubank.

Like said McClellan might have been a hard hitter, but he was not a polished fighter and had he been a more polished fighter( a better finisher) he would of finished Benn off.

I never said he had a bad chin.

Ironically enough i would give Benn a better chances against Jones than i would against Toney, because i think Benn's low crouching style would cause Roy a few problems landing cleanly, because Jones would find it more difficult punching down at him and Jones has never been comfortable when backed up into corner or on the ropes etc.

Id still favour Jones to win, but Benn's chances are better against Jones than Toney imo, even though Roy probably hits harder.

Prince Charles Williams,Jirov,Barkley all tried the tactics of leaning on Toney and pressuring him and they all come up short. The only fighters i can recall that were succuessful using those tactics were Tiberi and Thadzi, but Tiberi got Toney at the right time when he was completely weight drained and virtually done after 3 rounds, and Thadzi was a big LHW that used his physical strength etc.

Benn has a good chance against either, because he is a top fighter, but i would'nt fancy his chances at all against Toney.

Toney TKO 9 Benn- Benn is made for Toney. AT 160 or 160 Toney had alot of pop and was accruate. I cant see Benn taking Toney's punches for long.

Toney SD Eubank- Hard hard fight too call and the decision could probably go either way but Toney would probably get the nod for landing the harder most showy punches.

Toney UD Collins- Poor Steve would get busted up.

    Id agree with that.

For me Benn and Eubank were very very good MW/SMW, but they were not Superstars/Elite like Jones,Toney those guys at their best operated on a different level imo.

  9. No the diffrence was they were American and Eubank and Benn are British.

Ppl seem to think just because fighters are from America or S.America the are automaticly the best in the world.

Benn, Watson, Eubank, Collins were all happy enough fighting each other for plenty of money they never needed to go to the states

No the difference is Toney was the best figher in the divison, because he fought and beat better opposition, simple!

They never needed to go to the States, because they were getting paid well in Britain not, because they were seen as the best in the division, because that was James Toney.

Its like Jones claiming he was the HW champ although he hadn't beat Lennox Lewis.

Eubank probably didn't wanna go to America and fight Toney, because he was making good money defending his title against less than stellar opposition

    Wharton,Close,Jarvis,Esset,Sherry etc etc.

Would anybody give Herol Graham a chance against Toney at middleweight?

  13. Theres not much diffrence between Eubanks and Toneys wins at SMW IMO

Benn, Watson and Graciano are world class scalps

Yeah i would if he can push Mike McCallum that far im sure he could push Toney and possibly beat him.

I think prime Calzaghe would/could probably beat prime Toney.

  15. But then again Eubank always said he was a business man first and a boxer second.

But we had a really good domestic scene at the time at SMW so they didn't need to go to the states.
