Sign of the times. These are a pair of 27 year old prospects. Years ago, these guys would have met on a boxing after dark card a few years back. And we would have found out who is for real and who isn't. Or perhaps both would have looked excellent and both would have proven to be major players. As of now, wtf can we even say? A pair of prospects now in their late 20s. Both of these guys are just "maybe" fighters.

A prospect doesn’t have wins over Bohachuk and Madrimov. Ennis however, does need something to put him of the map. They’re definitely not prospects though.

He's a belt holder, not a champion. He's in the same situation as Gervonta Davis.

I think his point is more to do with how slow their careers have been.
Ortiz blasted onto the scene back in 2019 when he, well, blasted out Mauricio Herrera. He then beat a few noteworthy C level guys, but his first real test came in 2024. He was a red hot prospect back in 2019, but his first test was in 2024!

Ennis saw his first real test in his last fight, against Eimantas Stanionis. On paper this was the first really competitive fight when it came to popular sentiment and bookie odds. Ennis did pass that test with flying colors, but it was his 35th ****ing fight!

I agree,,you don't see those fighters clamoring to fight each other to see who rules the roost.

He's been fighting ranked opposition for a couple years now including his mandatories. Nothing he can do but fight who's available, his career isn't in any danger of failing as of now

    Aren't they in different divisions?

Ortiz has fought good competition, Ennis could step it up a bit but his division is dry.

Gervonta is a bigger diva than both of them ATM.

    This.

Totally agreed, been saying for a long time that Ennis needed to up his competition sooner.

They both pass the eye test
Ortiz got a gift against boa-chuck imo
However recovering from Rhabdomyolysis is also no joke.

the litmus test awaits both men vs each other.
