im not gonna lie im not in great shape myself so i cant really say too much...but come on, if i became a pro boxer....im going on the crack diet i swear im not joking im getting rid of any fat i dont need. the guy is somthign like 40 pounds above what he could be [yt]cSgw-V6k8f4[/yt] the only highlight reel that has clinching and a headbutt as a major highlight of his career :think
Saw some videos of him on Youtube, seems like a good guy. Has a good variety of punches, good movement, solid fundamentals, toughness. Judging by that video above he has alot of confidence in himself, and what he can do. I like the fact that he wants to challenge himself, take on other higly rated fighter to get to the top. I agree with Vantage_West though, i'd really like to see him get in tremedous physical condition. Being in that sort of condition would up his game to that extra level, really add more dimentions to his game. Like what i see though, he's a good fighter. Like Vantage_West stated, maybe a drop down to cruiserweight would open up more doors to him ?
A drop to cruiserweight right now is very improbable... Guys like Chris Byrd, Eliseo Castillo are able to do so become of their frame... Estrada is a stocky guy... Like a Kirk Johnson.... If im not mistaken, in the olympics, Jason fought at Super Heavy.... not heavy.... He's not making cruiserweight people... now maybe he can get to that 218-220 mark.... That is where he should be.... When your asset is combo punching, speed and volume comin in at 245 doesnt help at all.... I wouldnt mind seeing Arreola/Estrada... Up and coming heavyweight hopeful who's looked good on tv vs. a former Olympian with a good looking record...
arreola is fat too but nobody seems to mind, both are not going to have their optimum power to weight ratio if they dont lean up
i agree with you jaaames i think jason should be a few lbs lighter but if that is where he feels good than who is to say anything and i have one ? if jason is sooo fat and out of shape why are all these guys not jumping on a chance to fight him just to say they ended his run he got going? he called out chris but chris is only looking for a big payday right not it makes sense to take a fight with estrada if he beats him he will have a god name under his belt and his next fight will be that big payday he is lookin for and if estrada wins it will shut up all the haters and put him at the same spot for a big fight.....well i know if estrada wins everyone on esb will still talk **** and have something to say about the fight. i dont think people give jason the respect he should have he is a very good boxer and face it if he was not than someone would of stepped up and took him out already i think deep down some of the top guys dont want to fight him because he is a slick boxer and wins rounds
no but it was a god fight jason won all the rds but 1 and he only lost that rd cause jenkins had a 4-5 unch combo near the end of the rd jason did get hit with some shots but shook them off very well and asked for more but jenkins was not looking like he wanted to come in on jason unless it was to hold him
so that must mean chris will ko jason right? jason has a soild chin and i really dont think chris can handle jasons speed in the later rds i wil take estrada ud10 all day
if jason estrada was in with chris arreola instead of jenkins friday night he would have got knocked out
Yeah, I am amazed at these young up and comers, who seem to be serious about making a pro career on the world level, but can't seem to get themselves in better condition. They apparently have the discipline to control their training, but not their eating....... Not only does getting in a leaner, more defined condition make their ring conditioning improve, but it would also make them more marketable, and boxing is a business.. Guys coming up, like Arreola, Solis, Estrada, Povetkin, and Chambers, each have anywhere from gobs of belly fat, to a full on spare tire around their waste.
